Job Description:

This is a Senior Management position and the job holder will be expected among others to manage the activities of the Technical Department and be responsible for the Installation, Repair and Maintenance of all company equipment, buildings and facilities including managing the technical and workshop staff

  • Develop a realistic maintenance and repair budget and subsequent to management approval, manage M&R budget
  • Develop and implement realistic preventive maintenance programmes to ensure that equipment and other assets are maintained in peak condition at or below budget cost
  • Structure tasks and goals, establish efficient courses of action to meet goals/K.P.A’s. set priorities, organise information efficiently to execute tasks to meet staffing levels for management and labour, productivity, equipment needs, service requirements, safety requirements and ensure maximum return on investment
  • Manage, motivate, coach and lead all maintenance and repair team members
  • Provide regular process control checks, initiative and support performance improvement activities
  • Set and maintain performance criteria for reporting personnel
  • Maintain and enhance relationships with departments and promote goodwill among internal and external customers
  • Effectively manage sub-contract companies and personnel
  • Manage employee training and development including employee appraisal process
  • Actively promote safety awareness at all times and ensures a safe workplace policy
  • Competent and keen to involve himself on any hands-on repair job as and when required. Able to lead his team with a rolled up sleeve
  • Ensure all reporting personnel have a balanced work and family life

Required Job Skills:

  • University Degree in electrical engineering or relevant Technical Degree
  • 10 years previous experience with at least 5 years at managerial preferably in the port & marine industry
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of crane mechanics and electronic controls; At least 4 years experience in cranes and container handling equipment
  • Good communication skills with fluency in both written and oral English
  • Good people management skills
