Job Description:

“STRENGTHENING THE DISABILITY MOVEMENT OF GHANA THROUGH ADVOCACY AND ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT”

The Ghana Federation of the Disabled (GFD), in conjunction with the Disabled Peoples’ Organization, Denmark (DPOD), Danish Association of Disabled (DAD), Danish Association of the Blind (DAB) and Danish Deaf Federation (DDF) are seeking Programme Manager in management and advocacy. Although based in Accra, the programme includes a number of districts scattered through the country. GFD work to promote the rights of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) with the support of member organizations through continuous advocacy towards local and national Government. The Programme Manager will need to demonstrate experience in this area, Work experience in the disability sector will be an advantage. This senior management post offers a unique opportunity for the individual to make significant impact in furthering the strategic development of the disability movement in Ghana.

  • Day to day management of the programme based on strategic directives from the steering bodies
  • Lead, plan, report, evaluate and document processes related to the programme “Strengthening the Disability movement in Ghana through advocacy and organisational Development, 2010-2013”
  • Enable cross organizational learning processes within the entire disability movement
  • Facilitate effective operation and capacity development of involved partners
  • Contribute to advocacy processes at local and national levels
  • Facilitate monitoring visits of Danish partners and smooth communication between Danish and Ghanaian parties

You will be joining a diverse group of committed professionals working to improve conditions for PVDs in Ghana. The post attracts good remuneration and benefit package.

Required Skills/ Job Experience:

Advertisement
  • A basic Degree in the Social Sciences
  • Practical experience with rights-based advocacy and lobbying interventions, including experience of working within partnerships
  • Experience in programme design and management – in particular Logical Framework Approach (LFA)
  • Experience with development projects involving European and African organizations
  • Proven skills in management of resources, strategic planning, financial planning and control
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills including documented practical experience with team work and facilitation
  • Willingness to travel widely
