Mine Geologist Job Vacancy: Perseus Mining Ghana

Perseus Mining is a duet listed (Australia, Toronto) gold miner and explorer focused on the West African region. Perseus Mining (Ghana) Limited (PMGL) has recently commissioned the world-class Edikan gold project in the Western Region of Ghana. Edikan Gold Mine (EGM) has a current mining reserve of 3.3M oz of gold from a resource base of 4.3M oz. The Edikan processing facility has been designed as a 5.5Mtpa processing facility with the ability to expand this to 8Mtpa in the future. The plant is capable of producing at a rate of 220-270,000oz gold

Job Description

The Mine Geologist, reporting to the Chief Mine Geologist, will be responsible for the geological performance of the Mining Department at Perseus (Ghana) Limited, Edikan Gold Mine near Ayanfuri.

The responsibilities for the position include but are not limited to:-

• Deputise as the Senior Mine Geologist in his absence;
• Responsible for ore mark ups and flitch plan extraction and allocation to ore spotters;
• Update and maintain geological data base;
• Collect and interpret grade control QAQC duplicate, blank and standard information;
• Undertake the supervision of the grade control drill rig and geological logging of chips; and
• Undertake mapping of pit walls and bench faces to contribute to the development and update of the geological model

The position is site based and the Company offers a competitive remuneration package commensurate with the candidates’ qualifications and experience.
 

Required Skills or Experience

• The successful applicant must possess Degree in Geology and at least 3 years recent experience in a similar role in large-scale open pit mining operations.
• Experience in the use of 3D SOFTWARE preferably SURPAC and knowledge of MP3 SOFTWARE is an added advantage.
