Job Description
Job Title: Director Of Nursing Services
Job Purpose
• The Director of Nursing Services will be responsible for developing nursing service objectives, policies and procedures and directs the implementation of these objectives
• The Director of Nursing Services will also have the responsibility of continuously monitoring state guidelines and requirements and he/she will be expected to revise departmental procedures accordingly
• The holder of the office also recommends in-service educational programs geared to the specialized needs of geriatric patients as well as monitors on-going staff development programs for all nursing personnel
• The post holder will also be expected to manage the following roles: Head of Catering, Head of Laundry and CSSD
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
• Ensure quality patient care and nursing staff performance
• Responsible for the management and oversight of all nurses and nursing care provided by the hospital’s nursing staff
• Direct, coordinate and monitor nursing care delivery to assure safe, effective, and appropriate care
• Participate in planning, decision making, and implementation of all hospital activities that affect clinical nursing services and the performance of the multidisciplinary team
• Establish and implement quality assurance programmes for improved patient care
• Communicate with physicians and other health care providers on nursing related issues
• Oversee the maintenance of patient clinical records, statistics, reports and records
• Proven ability to work independently as well as build teams
• Lead and motivate the nursing staff of the hospital
• Undertake other duties commensurate with this role
Qualification Required & Experience
Candidates seeking this position must:
• Must be registered as practising nursing at a tertiary level hospital. A Master’s Degree in Nursing, Business Administration or a related field of specialization may be an advantage
• Have at least 8 years of post professional qualification working experience, 4 of which be in a senior management position in a reputable tertiary level hospital
• Have a good understanding of IT applications

• Must have excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to arrive methodical process of problem solving which includes considering a variety of solutions

• Must be willing to be flexible with work schedule to get job done, as required
• Must be able to manage multiple projects and meet established deadlines
• Must be a team player as well as self-motivated to be able to work independently and possess a customer focused mentality
• Must possess a strong work ethic, be trustworthy and maintain a high degree of integrity
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office skills in Word, Excel and Access
