The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources is seeking for qualified and experienced professionals to fill the under mentioned vacancy at the Ghana Boundary Commission.
Job Description
Job Title: Technical Officer (Maritime)
Job Purpose
• To advise and draw strategies to operationalize the plans and programmes of the commission
Main Duties
• Formulates policies and strategies to negotiate with neighboring countries concerning maritime boundaries between Ghana and that country
• Set up (in collaboration with the relevant institutions) appropriate technical standards and specifications
• Establish channels of communication for negotiations and mediation
• Analyse data in order to determine the feasibility of product proposals
• Monitor and study international conventions, agreements, rulings and their implications for Ghana
• Operate specialized technical software and geographical information systems (GIS) to manage the integration, processing, and presentation of data to clients
• Provide accurate and reliable information for other activities such as navigation, dredging, coastal works and construction, environmental monitoring, aquaculture, oil, gas and mineral resource exploration
• Plan, coordinate, supervise the placement of buoys, or other maritime markers along some or all of the course of Ghana’s maritime boundaries,
• Undertake any other duties that may be assigned
Qualification Required & Experience
• A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline
• Minimum of 10 years of industry related experience of which at least 4 years must be in a senior management level
• A member of a recognized and relevant professional body
