Project Summary:

Creative is pursuing a five-year USAID/West Africa Peace through Learning, Evaluation, and Adapting Activity (PELA) in Ghana. The purpose of PELA is to strengthen USAID/West Africa’s effectiveness implementing its projects; coordinating its activities; learning from its experiences; and serving as an information, communication, and thought-leader regarding peace promotion and countering violent extremism (CVE) in the West Africa region.

Job Title: CVE Specialists

The Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) Specialist will serve as subject matter expert and will be responsible for supporting overall program’s evaluations, assessment and other activities of the program.

Reporting & Supervision:

This position reports to the Chief of Party.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work across USAID/West Africa CVE projects to promote learning and sharing linkages between different programs
  • Support the program’s M&E team as needed in the development of M&E tools and approaches;
  • Work closely with program teams in each country and provide comments and recommendations for assessments of their activities and best practices
  • Travel throughout the region to consult with key stakeholders, CVE, and country experts and to participate in events promoting the lessons learned from each program

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in peace studies and conflict resolution, international development, law, counterterrorism, criminal justice, sociology, or related field; related field;
  • A minimum of  10 years working on countering violent extremism, or a related field is required;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current program principles, concepts, practices, methods, and techniques of CVE;
  • Experience working on countering violent extremism in a range of countries is desired but not required;
  • Experience working in West Africa is required; experience working in Burkina Faso, Niger, Chad or Cameroon is highly desirable but not required;
  • Fluency in English and French is required.
