Job Title: Security Specialist

Purpose

To support the Site Security Manager with day to day security related activities at the mine site. This includes but not restricted to providing professional level assistance with development, delivery and management of security. Administer the day to day administrative affairs of the Security department.

Essential Duties
Act as coordination point in emergency situations by staying apprised of Rapid Response System activities, monitoring. (Emergency activities and responding as outlined in company procedure. Keep supervisors apprised of emergency situations with regular updates). Communicates security problems or unusual events to Site Security Manager.
Supervise the day to day operations of assigned NGGL security supervisors in managing access and egress of company property, surveillance, paroling, searching, monitoring security systems and responding alarms. Monitor the operating and administrative activities of the contracted security force as well as security equipment and implements assigned to personnel.
Conduct investigations on incidents that occur on the property, in conjunction with Security Investigators and, when necessary, law enforcement officials. Keep Site Security Manager apprised of findings. (Maintain current knowledge of Ghanaian Laws and Regulations and ensure compliance with Ghanaian Law Regulations and Company Policy).
Ensure that all equipment and facility defects, damage, excessive vegetation overgrowth or any other issues that might influence effective security operations are identified and rectified.
Prepare security procedures, instructions and others including the preparation rosters and schedules to ensure continuous and effective security force supervision and co-ordination. Ensure that supervisors have a duty roster and work accordingly.
o Prepare and coordinate leave planning.

o Undergo training as require by NGGL.

o Develop and implement training for subordinate staff.

Train subordinate staff to the appropriate level in order to understudy the position when the need arises this includes the supervision of training of new personnel, schedule work assignments, administer employee discipline when necessary and perform employee evaluations. Provide advice and guidance on security matters to company personnel, contractors and sponsored dependents. Conduct a security presentation for company personnel, contractors and contacted security force employees. Review security related documents to provide advice on, and interpretation of matters contained therein

Training & Experience
Professional Diploma in required field is desirable.
Knowledge of English language, written and spoken, is required (advance).
Working knowledge of Ghana Criminal and Mine related Laws
Knowledge and experience of Gold Mining Security for up to 10 years with experience in the deterring of illegal Artisanal Small scale Mining is required.
Military experience coupled to a senior rank will be advantageous and will be substituted on a case-by-case basis as determined by the Regional Director, security and/or senior management
Good computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word and the ability to deliver written reports with applicable statistics.
Strong inter-personal relationship skills and problem solving skills are required.
Possession of a high standard of management skills will be an essential element of the position.
Working Conditions
Required to be available 24 hours a day for emergency calls.
The position places demand on time and therefore the incumbent will be required to be self-motivated in their approach and have the ability to prioritize work.
Frequent need to be outside and exposed to changing weather conditions.
Potential for physical harm is inherent in the position.
