Job Description
Job Title: Senior Inventory Analyst
About This Role
To implement the strategy for planning and controlling all Newmont Ghana’s SKU (Stock Keeping Units, Over 20,000 of them). To maintain data standardisation and catalogue descriptive information to optimise inventory assets through the development and application of innovative methods and techniques, while maintaining an overall focus to reduce risk, improve customer service levels and improve forecasting accuracy and inventory availability. To verify that the mining and processing operation and other high-risk tasks that require the business to hold stock, have stock available at an acceptable cost to prevent stoppage of work.
Essential Duties
Inventory Planning and Control
• Manage day-to-day replenishment activities.
• Tie-in material requirement planning (MRP) links between inventory levels and operational demand through the interpretation of historical usages (from OAS) and forecasting anticipated demand.
• Maintain inventory descriptions, classifications and data standards in accordance with established Newmont Standards.
• Manage inventory replenishment into the company’s distribution centres and warehouses.
• Drive the obsolescence process and develop writing inventory reports.
• Research past trends and stay informed of current trends that may influence inventory demand.
• Reduce inventory holding and maintain agreed service level.
• Develop and implement internal self-assessment audit techniques based on a control and compliance model for internal and external auditors.
• Oversee cycle counts and process variance as per laid down process.
• To verify availability of key commodities such as Haul Truck Tires, GETs, Grinding Media, Cyanide, Lime, all critical spares for the process plant.
Management Reporting
• Liaise with end-users and maintenance planners to establish inventory and spares for projects and operational requirements.
Relationship Management
• Improve customer services level and facilitate transparent communications between sites and planning groups to confirm alignment and understanding of management performance measurements, requirements and output.
• Engage suppliers and expeditors to deliver critical spares needed urgently at the site and bulk commodities.
• Collaborate with end-users to resolve all operational issues in a timely manner.
Asset Disposal
• Proactively implement and execute Inventory obsolescence and disposal process to verify obsolescence provision are actively utilised.
• Initiate and carry through supply chain recommended disposals in conjunction with the warehouse.
• To interface with Technical Services in order to drive the asset management strategy.
