Job Description

Job Title: Learning and Development Supervisor

Reports To: Learning and Development Manager
Location: Accra (82% traveling to Branches)

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Learning and Development Supervisor (LDS) will assist in implementing full training and performance management cycles.

The LDS will enhance the competencies of individual employees by designing and conducting training programs that will boost employees’ workplace performance in alliance with company’s core values and objectives.

S/he will be responsible for performing training needs assessments, designing and delivering curriculum and learning materials and for managing all phases of training interventions.

The role will also assist line managers in managing employee
performance.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Learning and Development
Identify training needs by identifying staff’s competencies gap.
Translate requirements into trainings that will groom employees for optimum performance and prepare them for the next step of their career path
Build annual training program and prepare learning/training plans
Develop or oversee the production of classroom handouts, instructional materials, aids, audios, videos and manuals
Direct structured learning experiences and monitor their quality results to ensure achievement of learning outcomes
Acclimate new hires to the business and conduct orientation sessions
Develop and implement individual staff’s career development plans in line with their succession plans, and monitor same to ensure effectiveness
Deliver/Facilitate on training courses
Coordinate training events
Conduct training evaluations by assessing training effectiveness to ensure incorporation of taught skills and techniques into employees work behavior,
conduct cost-benefits analysis and ROTI (Return on Training Investment)
Periodically evaluate ongoing programs to ensure that they reflect any changes
Stay abreast of the new trends and tools in learning and development
Performance Management and Employee Career Development
Assist with the performance management drive of the company by assisting with the implementation of the company’s performance management system:
Trains employees on how to use company’s performance management system with its associated tools/forms
Assist supervisors in performance management exercises: writing performance contracts, assisting in performance reviews/evaluations/appraisals and implementing performance improvement plans
Collation of performance appraisal data and analysis of same for management decision

Required Skills or Experience

1. Degree in Human Resource Management, Adult Education, Psychology, Learning and Development from a recognized institution is a must; a
postgraduate degree in a relevant field or MBA is desired.
2. A recognized professional qualification in HR and/or Training Practice will be a plus.

Competencies Required (Skills & Abilities)

1. Proven experience in designing multiple training events in a corporate setting
2. Proven experience in training facilitation (adult learning) in a corporate setting
3. Extensive knowledge of instructional design theory and learning principles
4. Proven ability to master the full training cycle
5. Proven ability to master the full performance management cycle
6. Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods, tools and techniques
7. Familiarity with performance management, talent management and succession planning
8. Ability to conduct training evaluation, cost-benefit analysis and calculate training ROTI
9. Ability to present complex information to a variety of audiences
10. Ability to organize; prioritize and work efficiently under pressure and subject to changing priorities
11. Proven experience managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and using judgment and initiative in problem resolution.
12. Excellent oral and written communication skills
13. Must be a self-starter who displays excellent persuasive/negotiation and leadership skills with the ability to effectively organize using a collaborative approach
14. Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals at all levels in a large, complex, multinational organization.
15. Proven track record of putting the customer (internal) first and ensuring their satisfaction
16. Proficiency in MS Office and in database software. Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access)
17. The successful candidate must be resourceful, adaptable, able to meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
18. Possess the ability to make smart and timely decisions while completing a high volume of tasks and projects with minimal guidance
