Responsible to: Head of Internal Audit
Accountable to: Registrar/Chief Executive Officer
Job Purpose:
To assist the Head of Internal Audit Unit to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of Risk Management Controls and governance processes for the Council.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist to conduct regular and ad hoc audits of operational systems
- Assist to undertake regular reviews of operations to ensure that internal control measures are in place and maintained effectively
- Assist to develop an annual audit plan using input from management to identify control priorities and resource requirements for the year
- Assist to design and implement Internal Audit policies as approved by Management
- Ensure that financial information produced is reliable
- Monitor economic and efficient use of the Council’s resources
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and financial regulations
- Assist to Investigate and report on any irregularities in management of resources
- Any other relevant duty that may be assigned by the Registrar/Chief Executive Officer
Required Skills or Experience
- A good first degree in Accounting or its equivalent or Part II of ICAG or ACCA or CIMA or CIAs
- Minimum of five (5) years post-qualification experience
- Computer literacy in MS Word, Power Point, Excel and familiarity with automated Accounting systems
- Very good verbal communication skills
- Must be detail oriented, conscientious and systematic with high level of accuracy
- Strategic thinking, problem-solving and decision making skills
- Ability to continuously seek quality service and process improvements in order to support the vision and mission of the Council

- Demonstrate flexibility and a methodological approach to work
- Ability to take initiative and to influence others positively
