Job Title: Project Assistant (Operations/Procurement Support)

The Financing Ghanaian Agriculture Project (FinGAP) addresses a key constraint restricting the development of commercial agriculture and obtaining full food security in Ghana – access to finance necessary to enable investment in agriculture value chains. USAID-FinGAP uses a comprehensive approach to facilitate agriculture-related investment, engaging a broad range of Ghanaian Financial Institutions (banks, private equity firms, leasing companies, investment funds, etc.) in providing agriculture oriented financing, in partnership with strategic investors and buyers of rice, maize and soya in Northern Ghana. USAID-FinGAP will also facilitate investment in the agriculture sector in Ghana that will complement other Government of Ghana (GOG) and donor programs aimed at expending commercial agriculture.

Primary Duties

As the USAID FinGAP project is in its final year of implementation, there has been an increase in technical activities to ensure sustainability of the project model, as well as increase in operations activities preparing for project closure. These activities require significant operations and procurement support to implement, and therefore the role of this project assistant will be to provide assistance to the operations and procurement team of USAID FinGAP. He will have a focus on administrative activities, which can include but is not limited to making travel arrangements, managing and mobilizing consultants, organizing procurement documents, assisting with events, among other tasks as assigned.

Specific Functions and Responsibilities
Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Completing due diligence checks on consultants during the onboarding process.
  • Assist with mobilization of consultants, including arranging travel, hotel, and ground transportation.
  • Create a tracking sheet for all consultants to monitor days of LOE used.
  • Source quotes for various procurement actions as needed.
  • Organize and file completed procurement documentation in USAID FinGAP office cabinets.
  • Assist with organizing and executing events for the project.
  • Assist the Project’s AODU, FSSU, M&E, BAS, Grants, and Communications Managers as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Technical Oversight

The Project Assistant will report to the Grants and Procurement Manager, with overall oversight responsibility by the USAID FinGAP Chief of Party.

Requirements

The Project Assistant will possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of experience in related fields
  • Demonstrated interest/proficiency in office management, procurement, administration
  • Experience with USAID projects a plus
  • Residency and ability to work in Ghana required
