Job Description

Job Title: Junior Marketing Associates

The Position

Junior Marketing Associate (Events & Activations Specilist) is a role with about 90% of its functions being field operations and 10% HQ/office functions. The ideal candidate should have a strong passion for executing events. We are looking for a candidate who is a strong project manager and is able to deliver on tight deadlines with past experience in event production and community engagement. This person will lead efforts to build exciting programming and events for the PEG customers. In this role, they will execute our program strategy in collaboration with the Sales Team.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Help develop and execute high-impact marketing initiatives to support ambitious growth targets to our target customer segment

  • Create detailed work plans to ensure initiatives are effectively implemented and have the sufficient resources allocated to guarantee success

  • Determine framework and key performance indicators on which initiatives will be evaluated

  • Monitor and report on progress and effectiveness of each marketing initiative with an emphasis on continuous optimisation and improvement

  • Leverage customer and competition insight data to assist in planning strategic marketing projects/initiatives

  • Create detailed work plans to ensure initiatives are effectively implemented and have the sufficient resources allocated to guarantee success

  • Manage events and projects with attention to financial and time constraints

  • Oversee event happenings and act quickly to troubleshoot and resolve problems

  • Perform administrative duties to support department operations, including assisting with budget

  • Execute initiatives to drive profitable sales, brand growth and loyalty

  • Ensure marketing and sales events are consistent with the PEG values and positioning

  • Identify and build relationships with strategic partners (e.g. Telcos, Cocoa Board, Farmer Associations) to increase sales and promote the PEG brand

  • Ensure sales leads from marketing initiatives are being handled and followed up in a timely manner and high conversion rates

  • Work with Sales Force Managers to identify the best use of marketing resources such as marketing activations, community engagement and flash mobs

  • Provide support to sales team in any other way necessary or judged important by Events & Projects Specialist and ultimately Marketing Manager

  • Prepares PowerPoint presentations for special events/functions and meetings; drafting and preparing correspondence

  • Other duties as assigned

The successful candidate must have:

  • First Degree, HND or Diploma

  • Degree or Professional Certificate/Diploma in Project Management or Marketing is a plus

  • Must be able to communicate fluently in at least 3 of the local Ghanaian languages

  • Must be able to use Office applications for event planning/management, recording feedback, preparing daily analysis and reports

  • Ability to drive and possess a valid driver’s license

  • Several years proven marketing experience in Telecom, Media/Broadcasting and/or FMCG sector with previous responsibility in field marketing and events/projects management and implementation

  • Strong ability to think creatively and develop impactful marketing initiatives to increase awareness and drive demand

  • High attention to detail including precise and effective communication skills and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously

  • Self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently and on own initiative

  • Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize, plan, forecast and execute methodically

  • Strong analytical skills to assess the project on its completion

  • A team player

  • Strong use of MS suit
