Job Description

Job Title: Solar Pump Engineer

The Position

The Solar Pump Engineer will be responsible for the installation of PEG Water solutions in a defined sales market and territory. This position requires the offering of PEG Water services (installation and maintenance) using technical, organizational, and customer knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate the needs of the customer based on the nature of the site, technical requirements,  and their budgetary considerations in order to arrive at a suitable recommendation for the solar irrigation pump system size and configuration;

• Create or interpret solar panel installation plans, mapping out the steps of the installation and where all of the components will be installed;

• Install, inspect, maintain and repair solar panel systems, including the solar panels, pumps, cabling, and/or support structures.

• Weatherproof the solar installation in accordance with local safety regulations and the specifications of the manufacturer.

• Operate power and manual tools eg. soldering iron, drills, required for effective installation and maintenance activities

• Clean and conduct quality checks on all repaired components

• Maintain all documentation of system installation and maintenance procedures

• Report completed and ongoing tasks to Supervisor on a daily basis, and any other intervals agreed with line manager at PEG HQ

• Other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate must have (or be able to):

• Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from an accredited University or Institution, with  a related professional qualification

• Experience in solar installations; preference would be given to candidates who have many years of experience with the installation of submersible solar water pumps

• In-depth knowledge of installation and maintenance procedure of solar pumps

• Ability to interpret schematic diagrams

• Good customer service, attention to detail and a strong work ethic

• Ability to analyze, self-manage, self-motivate, and perform under extreme pressure

• Skilled in using relevant hand and power tools
