Job Description

Job Title: Legal Officer

Job Role

• Responsible for managing debt recovery and related cases, as well as providing legal counsel on debt recovery and negotiated settlements

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

• Support the Bank’s recovery Department/Loan Recovery Task force during disputes arising in the course of is debt recovery activities and protect its interest in court proceedings
• Liaise between the recovery department and the bank’s external lawyers on debt recovery and related cases
• Prepare and commence legal proceedings in court either directly or in collaboration with the bank’s legal department
• Coordinate and monitor progress and evaluate performance of outsourced debt recovery firms
• Develop a system to effectively monitor progress made in respect of cases in court

Qualification Required & Experience

• A minimum of profession degree in law
• Minimum of 3 years experience in debt recovery process, especially in a financial institution
• Minimum of 5 to 10 years standing at the bar
• Good knowledge in the Banking legislation and other relevant statutes and regulations
• In-depth knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and their current implementation
• MBA added advantage
