Perseus Mining is a duet listed (Australia, Toronto) gold miner and explorer focused on the West African region. Perseus Mining (Ghana) Limited (PMGL) has recently commissioned the world-class Edikan gold project in the Western Region of Ghana. Edikan Gold Mine (EGM) has a current mining reserve of 3.3M oz of gold from a resource base of 4.3M oz. The Edikan processing facility has been designed as a 5.5Mtpa processing facility with the ability to expand this to 8Mtpa in the future. The plant is capable of producing at a rate of 220-270,000oz gold

1. Community Relations Officer

Job Description

The Community Relations Officer will be the primary contact point and face of the Company in the Community and represent the Company in all dealings with the communities including attendance at community group meetings.

The responsibilities for the position include but are not limited to:-

Prepare and organise periodic public meetings, workshops and information sessions in the community with regard to operational activities;
Ensure access to and maintain contact with key formal stakeholders (opinion leaders) in each community;
Represent PMGL at cultural gathering or festivals;
Responsible for updating the bulletin boards in each community;
Direct and support the Community Information Assistants in their efforts to deal with stakeholders; and
Support the implementation of approved community investment projects

The position is site based and the Company offers a competitive remuneration package commensurate with the candidates’ qualifications and experience

Required Skills or Experience

The successful applicant must possess Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences with at least 5 years experience in similar position, demonstrate extensive knowledge of the Minerals and Mining Laws, Wassa and Denkyira Traditions and Customs, strong verbal and written communication skills and good command of the Twi language is essential

2. Security Superintendent

Job Description

The Security Superintendent will assist the Security Manager in the day to day operations and administration of Security Department at the Perseus Mining (Ghana) Limited, located Ayanfuri.

The responsibilities for the position include but are not limited to:-

Draft, implement and review security directives, policies and plans;
Carry out investigations into all security related incidents and submit recommendations to the Security Manager;
Liaise with National Security Agencies on all security matters;
Gather intelligence on all mine security related issues including illegal mining activities;
Plan, direct and co-ordinate operations to effectively deal with illegal mining activities on the company’s concession; and
Act in the absence of the Security Manager

Required Skills or Experience

The successful applicant must possess University degree in Security/Risk Management, Justice & Criminology International Law with 5 years experience in Security Management with Police, Military or Industrial Security Organisations. Excellent communication skills and fluent in the local Akan language are essential
