Job Description
Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager.
Introduction
Responsible for the day-to-day warehouse operational management focusing on achieving cost and service level targets while maintaining productivity and company health, safety & environmental standards.
Operational activities include inspection (quality, quantity and legal compliance), receiving, storing, issuing, delivery, documentation and administration.
Included in warehouse operational management is the supervision of manpower, physical handling of inventory, equipment maintenance and housekeeping.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Warehouse Management and Housekeeping
Adherence to relevant warehouse policies, processes and procedures
Responsible for all activities involved in receiving, binning, safe keeping, issuing and delivery of materials
Ensure compliance with safe storage procedures as well as legal and statutory regulations
Manage and control shelf-life, batch-lots (FIFO) and component tracking and tracing of relevant materials
Coordinate the return-to-stock and return-to-vendor processes as well as inventory related internal orders
Manage all logistics required for the transportation and delivery of materials
Recommend material master updates and improvements
Identify materials requiring adherence to special quality standards (external and in-house) and storage procedures, such as preservation methods and in-storage maintenance
Maintain high standard of housekeeping at all times
Stock Taking
Provide input to stock take planning and schedules and help drive the execution of the plan
Supervise cycle counts and annual stock takes
Investigate and resolve stock variances in a timely manner and in accordance with the relevant policies
Recommend stock adjustments
Warehouse Equipment Maintenance
Adherence to relevant vehicle and materials handling policies and procedures
Ensure that all warehouse equipment, storage structures and general facilities are well maintained
Safety, Health and Environment
Comply with all relevant SHE policies and procedure
Processes, Systems and Reporting
Ensure that all warehouse related policies, processes and procedures are implemented, adhered to, kept updated and relevant and assist with the identification of continuous improvement opportunities
Compile and review operational KPIs and reports and take appropriate action to rectify any problems
Ensure the timely update of SAP transactions and relevant master data
Ensure accurate records are maintained as well as the correct filing and storage of relevant documents in accordance with procedures
People Management
Supervise and allocate warehouse staff to ensure the efficient and safe operation of the warehouse
Manage time & attendance, leave, stand-by schedules and overtime of all warehouse staff
Develop and drive training and development plans and provide on-the-job training
Succession planning
Comply with the performance management system Conduct staff performance reviews
Implement disciplinary process if required
Adhoc Projects
Assist with ad hoc projects related to the management and improvement of the warehouse function. These projects can involve the design, layout, equipment and capacity requirements of the warehouse.
Relationship Management
Develop and maintain relationships with the Supply Chain function and Operations departments and achieve agreed customer service levels (SLA) on a consistent basis. Attend to and resolves all queries in an efficient manner.

Required Skills or Experience
QUALIFICATIONS
Materials management diploma or equivalent
Membership of relevant professional body e.g. CIPS
EXPERIENCE:
Professional experience (3-5 yrs) in Warehouse and Inventory management
Fully operational knowledge and experience of Tally Inventory Management software
Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Previous experience in manufacturing or industrial environment (mining experience desirable)
