A fast growing rural bank with Head Office in the Central Region is seeking to employ qualified professional / persons to fill the following position: Internal Audit

Job Description

Job Title: Internal Auditor

Role:

• To provide independent assurance to the board of directors and management on the quality and effectiveness of the bank’s internal controls, risk management and governance systems and processes, thereby helping the board and management protect the bank

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Determine internal audit scope and develop annual plans
• Perform and control the full audit cycle, including risk management and control management over operations effectiveness, financial reliability and compliance with all applicable directives and regulations
• Obtain, analyse and evaluate all documentation, processes and procedures
• Prepare and present reports that reflect audits results
• Act as an objective source of independent advice to ensure validity, legality and goal achievement
• Maintain open communication with management and board audit sub-committee
• Conduct follow up audits to monitor management’s interventions
• Engage to continuously development knowledge regarding sector’s rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques and performance standards
• Objectives review the Bank’s business processes
• Protect against fraud and theft of the bank’s assets
• Ensure that the bank’s is complying with relevant laws and statutes
• Make recommendations on how to improve internal controls and governance processes

Qualification Required & Experience

• First Degree in Accounting or Finance and a Second Degree in MBA, Finance option or Chartered Accountant
• At least 5 years of practical experience in accounting in any industry. At least 2 years practical experience in banking – preferably rural banking will be an added advantage
