Job Title: Director Of M-Commerce Solutions

Responsibilities

• Job type: Permanent preferred but willing to consider consultancy

• Start date: Immediate

Summary of Role
Esoko is changing how businesses manage smallholder farmers, suppliers and clients through the effective use of mobile/web innovations. The Director of M-Commerce Solutions will be responsible for driving the design and execution of an innovative technology solution that will change the way farmers and businesses communicate and transact with each other. You will work across the company to leverage skills and competencies as well as create a unique ecosystem of external partners required to make the innovation a success. We’re looking for someone who is strong on process but is also a “blue ocean” thinker and strategist, not afraid of failing fast and knows how to pivot quickly, and passionate about the opportunity to lead ground-breaking innovation for a social enterprise that is driven by sustainability and impact.

About the Role

• Work with mobile operators, agribusinesses and other partners in multiple countries to pilot a proprietary solution that combines information and digital financial services in the agric sector
• Establish key performance indicators as well as the process to collect and analyze data against them
• Manage the pilot according to the work plan and on or below budget
• Document successes and failures and course correct as needed
• Ensure compliance with investor requirements
• If successful, plan and execute the scale-up of the solution in those markets
• Start to position Esoko as a thought leader in the m-commerce space

Required Skills or Experience

• At least 7-10 years of experience managing complex projects in the design, development and deployment of mobile applications, especially digital financial services and/or m-commerce
• Bachelor’s or Master’s (preferred) degree in relevant field (e.g. Business, Marketing) from top university required
• Creative and original thinker – you are not afraid to chart the course in murky waters
• Highly process driven but not a slave to a business plan
• Quantitative – you are a data-driven decision maker
• Your EQ is as high as your IQ
• Passionate about working in a business with strong social impact and about innovative technology
• Able to articulate client needs and help translate them into product design
• Have a consultative approach to problem solving for clients
• Developing country professional experience preferred
