Job Description

Job Title: Executive Head, HR

Organizational Relationships
Directly Reports to : CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Directly Supervises: EMPLOYEES OF THE HR DEPARTMENT

Position Objective and Responsibility

To develop people strategies aimed at ensuring the delivery of shareholder value including ensuring the availability of the appropriate skillset, up-to-date policies and procedures, robust performance management systems aligned to rewards with the aim of building a highly engaged
workforce, and a conducive working environment within the company.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

This includes but not limited to the following;
Trusted Advisor: Acting as the trusted advisor to management on people issues; supports management by providing metric people advice. Also
champions the values of the company and acts as the chief values champion together with the Chief Executive Officer;
People Strategy: Driving the development and the implementation of a business aligned people strategy through policies and procedures with the aim to increase performance, deliver company objectives and ensure increasing return on equity for shareholders;
Resourcing: Working with the Chief Executive Officer and Heads of Department to develop a proactive resourcing plan for filling critical roles and in-line with approved manpower plans and budget;
Learning, Leadership and Talent Management: Working with the Heads of Department to deploy Leadership Learning and Talent Development solutions within the Company and managing the talent pipeline throughout the company. Cultivate an environment in which opportunities to develop the skills,
experience and behaviours required in the company are identified and acted on in line with the Learning and Development Framework. Provide coaching,
relevant advice, facilitation of workshops, as appropriate;
Performance: Developing and implementing a robust performance management system that measures and monitors organizational and people performance in line with set objectives, including deploying solutions that ensure effective;
Employee Relations: Coaching and supporting Heads of Department with regards to people management issues, including ensuring that legal
compliance is maintained;
Rewards and Recognition: Ensuring that effective data driven reward and recognition strategies are deployed within the company to ensure the
attraction, retention and development of talent whiles also imbibing a culture of pay-for-performance within the company;

Administration and Operations: Developing and consistently updating the company’s policies and procedures and enduring strict adherence. Also
ensuring that employee data management is up-to-date and in-line with the company’s policies and procedures. Operations shall include on boarding, staff discipline, maintenance of staff files (hard and soft), and collating payroll data.

Required Skills or Experience
Specifications

Required Skills and Competencies
Technical: Strong generalist Human Resource expertise (Organizational Design and Development, Employee Relations, Performance and Reward,
Employee Engagement, Change Management, Learning and Development, Resourcing);
Resourcing: Basic knowledge in insurance principles and insurance business concepts with industry staff experience in the recruitment of technology,
underwriting, risk management and claims;
Law: Must have deep working knowledge of the Country’s Labour Laws;
Financial: Hands-on experience in drawing and managing budget policies, procedures and processes;
Policy Development: Must have demonstrable skills in writing policies, procedures and processes;
Relationship Building: Excellent interpersonal skills, able to build relationships, influence, counselling, consulting, negotiation, leadership and conflict resolution. Ability to work under time and people pressure;
Information Technology: Knowledge and experience of Human Resource Information Systems and Microsoft packages;
Communication/Relationship: Must have the ability to relate to and communicate to people at all levels;
Administration: Must have basic knowledge in sourcing, purchasing and general administration.
Required Knowledge and Expertise
A good degree in a relevant field and/or an MBA in HR;
Must have a recognised professional qualification in Human Resources Management or working towards gaining one;
Must have a minimum of 10 years progressive HR experience with a minimum of 5 in a management position;
