Rural banks were first established in Ghana in 1976 to provide banking services to the rural population, providing credit to small-scale farmers and businesses and supporting development projects,[1] with the first being in Agona Nyakrom in Central Region.The banks are locally owned and managed.By 2002 115 rural banks had been established.They are supervised by the clearing bank ARB Apex Bank under the regulation of the Bank of Ghana,which owns shares in the banks.

Job Description
Job Title: Head of Credit and Marketing
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the General Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for the following functions among others:
• Loans appraisals
• Monitoring of loans
• Recoveries
• Product development
• Good corporate image and marketing of the Bank
• Link between the Bank and other institutions such as NGOs, MMDAs
• Supervision of Micro-Finance, Mainstream Credit and filed Operations
• Marketing, product and customer research
• General marketing of the Bank’s products and services
• Any other duties assigned by the General Manager
Qualification Required & Experience
• A degree in a relevant field such as Finance,Agricultural Science, Land Economy, Marketing, Economics, Microfinance or Investment
• Candidate must demonstrate capacity to manage a department
• A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in rural banking or savings and loans company with at least 3 years in management position
Technical Skills
• Must be well versed in financial reporting and interpretation
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Able to do technical and financial appraisal and credit assessment
• Good leadership skills
• Must be computer literate and conversant with accounting software
