Agricultural Jobs in Ghana

Safi Sana has started the design and commissioning of a large scale waste-to-energy/ bio-fertilizer plant in Ashaiman. This plant has become operational in the third quarter of 2016 and will treat 25 tonnes of waste daily from public toilets and organic waste collection points. The plant will produce a bio-fertilizer for the local market and generate power for the national power grid. It is expected that this model will be replicated in other areas in Ghana in the coming years. Generally the project is designed to push the frontiers of innovation in the area of waste treatment/ reuse in Ghana and its success could influence future policy and practice regarding municipal waste treatment and reuse in Ghana.

The program entitled “Toward Sustainable Clusters in Agribusiness through Learning in Entrepreneurship” (2SCALE) aims at improving rural livelihoods and food and nutrition security in Africa. It was created by a consortium of partners, led by the International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC), and comprising the Base-of-the-Pyramid Innovation Centre (BoPInc.) and the International Centre for development-oriented Research in Agriculture (ICRA). The program is supported by a grant of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (through the Directorate-General for International Cooperation, DGIS) of the Netherlands.

2SCALE’s portfolio in Ghana is composed of 8 active partnerships, including 2 in fruits and 1 in vegetables. Safi Sana and 2SCALE propose to collaborate to demonstrate and promote the use of Safi Sana organic fertilizers and seedlings in a vegetable cluster in Ashaiman.
