The ICT Skills for Business development project, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development, BMZ, via sequa gGmbH, supports Ghanaian partners in implementing practice-oriented ICT qualification programs and accompanying measures to promote employment of the local youth.

Job Description

Job Title: Team Leader for ICT Skills in Business

Starting date: October 2020, negotiable

Contract duration: approximately 39 months
Duty station: Cape Coast or Accra with regular travels in Ghana

Contract: Local contract

Project objective

To develop an innovative and hands-on IT education approach at a pilot university, blending the perspective of the academic sector with the experiences from the private sector.

Tasks

Lead project implementation to achieve qualitative and quantitative outcomes and intended impact;

Ensure the inclusion of marginalized population groups;

Lead the knowledge curation process, particularly with regard to developing country-specific TVET, SME and skills-development concepts, toolkits and case studies;

Mentor and coach project staff to build their capacities on various technical and management issues pertinent to the project;

Responsible for quality Monitoring & Evaluation and reporting;

Ensure financial reports to AFOS Foundation are accurate and submitted timely;

Lead on partner management and communications and representation of the project during events.

Requirements

At least a master’s degree in Economics, Development Studies, Social Science or equivalent;

Minimum 10 years of progressive professional work experience, incl. at least 5 years of experience in managing skills development initiatives;

Strong understanding of private and public sector development, TVET systems, tertiary and basic education systems and business decision-making processes;

Understanding of market-oriented approaches and leveraging private sector investment for workforce development and business modernization, especially in the ICT sector;

Excellent analytical, negotiating, problem-solving and decision-making skills;

Ability to manage working relationships with diverse public and private stakeholders;

Experience in log frame development, Monitoring and Evaluation, reporting.

Experience in mentoring and coaching young professionals;

Excellent communication skills, English proficiency;

Excellent computer literacy, incl. MS Office;

Understanding of working principles and methods of German development cooperation, as well as work experience with a German development organization or a similar post preferred;

Experience with German private sector preferred;

Experience in the ICT sector preferred.
