Solidaridad West Africa (SWA) is a not-for-profit organization that supports the sustainable development of farmers and production systems in West Africa. We play a catalytic role by partnering with private sector companies and other stakeholders to foster the development of socially responsible, ecologically sound, and profitable supply chains. Our activities in West Africa are focused on cocoa, gold, oil palm, cotton and other commodities.
As the Regional Expertise Center (REC) within Solidaridad’s international network, we are part of a growing global movement advocating and supporting sustainable and responsible production and trade.
SWA focuses on stimulating sustainable supply chains through innovations in good practices, robust infrastructure, sustainable landscapes management and enabling policy environment.
The Solidaridad regional office is based in Accra, Ghana and currently has programmes and operations in Sierra Leone, Cameroon, Cote D’Ivoire, Ghana, Liberia and Nigeria.
Job Title: Internal Auditor
Reports to: Regional Director
Duty Station: Accra
The position holder facilitates organizational accountability and integrity through audit of business controls, accuracy of financial records and efficiency of Solidaridad operations. The internal auditor shall further examine the organizational financial records to verify accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Performs audit to review supporting documents of Solidaridad operations and communicate findings to management.
Collect and analyse data to detect deficient controls, duplicated effort, excessiveness, wastefulness, non-compliance with laws, regulations and the organization’s quality management systems
Travel to project sites and other REC countries to audit operational and financial systems, administrative records, accountability, procedures, staffing, planning, budgets, legal requirement and quality management systems.
Examines and document risks, internal processes and related controls and conduct appropriate tests and make proposal in written brief to management
as the organization strives towards enhanced management system.
Coach and provide expertise, and oversee the work of other departments as needed based on findings for improvement.
Review grant contracts and ensure all conditions are met.
Document process and prepare audit findings memorandum to the Regional Director on quarterly basis.
Any other tasks as assigned by the Line Manager.
Required Skills or Experience
ACCA/CIMA/ICA qualified, University Degree in Finance, Accounting or its equivalent
Demonstrated knowledge in different donor rules and regulations (Dutch Government, USAID, EU, DFID etc.)
A minimum of five (5) years of practice in accounting in an international development organization and/or audit firm
Excellent financial and analytical skills
Conversant with legal requirement and quality management systems
Excellent command of MS-Office and exposure to the use of a cloud based accounting system
