The University of Cape Coast is in the process of establishing a Faculty of Law and is looking for a highly qualified academic for the position of founding Dean

As the founding Dean of the Faculty of Law, your responsibilities and duties will include, but not limited to the following:

Ensure a seamless blend of the vision and mission of the Faculty of Law and those of the University of Cape Coast
Ensure that the Law programme speaks to the national development agenda
Obtain the requisite accreditation and approvals from the National Accreditation Board and the General Legal Council
Continuously look for innovative ways to make the UCC Law programme distinctive, effective and responsive to national, continental and global needs
Provide intellectual and visionary leadership to the Faculty of Law and foster research and teaching excellence there
Ensure adequate Library holdings and equipment for the programme
Oversee the recruitment of high calibre staff for teaching and research in the programme and all aspects of the Faculty’s administration
Be directly responsible to the Vice-Chancellor of UCC for developing and running the Law programme

Required Skills or Experience

Candidate must be:

A Professor with a PhD or its equivalent in Law with considerable teaching and research experience in law in a reputable academic institution Or
A Professor of Law with an LLM degree or its equivalent who has a distinguished legal and academic profile Or
A legal scholar who has held the post of a Dean of Faculty of Law in a comparable academic institution
An experience of having previously set up a Law Faculty will be a great advantage
Personal Profile:
Highly motivated individual who is visionary and result-oriented
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills together with a capacity to work collegially with all stakeholders
