The University of Mines and Technology hereby invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of University Librarian to take effect from 1st August, 2023.

Job Description

Job Title: University Librarian

The Position

• The University Librarian is the Head of the University Library System and shall be responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the administration and coordination of the entire University Library System which consists of the Main Library, as well as Faculties and Schools Libraries.

Qualification Required & Experience

Candidate must have:

• A minimum of a Master’s degree in Library Studies/Library Science/Information Studies, with at least 10 years post-qualification experience in a University Library or analogous institutions;
• Served as substantive Deputy Librarian in a university or analogous institution;
• Evidence of research publications in area of specialisation in peer reviewed Journals/Publications will be an advantage;
• A strong knowledge of library management, strong capability of traditional and electronic library practices with evidence of ability to lead a University library;
• Be computer literate and have strong skills in the use of library related IT and Integrated Library Systems.

Contract Term

• The Appointment, which is Full-time, shall be four (4) years in the first instance and may be subject to renewal for another term of four (4) years or part thereof but not beyond the compulsory statutory retirement age of sixty (60).

Remuneration

• Conditions of service are as applicable in Government of Ghana subvented Universities.
