Accountability: Accountable to the: Vice Chancellor
Key accountabilities:
The duties of the Internal Auditor include but not limited to the following:
Accountable to the Vice Chancellor for the day to day auditing of the University’s activities
Draw audit programmes for the year to enable the various operations, systems and procedures of the University, including finance and accounting, to be assessed in terms of risk exposure and enable management take corrective action to protect the assets and interest of the University
Implement the audit plan and assess the risk profile of the University in terms of the degree of compliance by various functional areas and submit findings to the Vice Chancellor for his information and redress so as to safeguard the University’s assets and interest
Follow up on issues raised by External Auditors, Council Audit Committee as well as the University Administration’s reports and ensure recommendations are implemented by the affected functions
Conduct special information and investigations (including fraud, irregularities and misappropriate of funds) at the request of the Vice Chancellor or the University Council and submit findings as well as recommend improvements in control procedures to prevent future occurrence
Review financial statements and tax consumption by the finance division and certify that the information represent a true and fair view of the University’s financial records and performance

Required Skills or Experience
Qualification and Experience:
Holder of a final certificate of any professional Accounting body, preferably ICA (GH), ACCA, ICMA, with at least five (5) years relevant post qualification experience
A post graduate relevant qualification e.g. Master’s degree in Management or MBA in Finance is desirable but not essential
Experience:
Minimum of 8 years qualification experience of managing financial activities in a large and dynamic organisation, 3 years of which should have been at strategic decision making level

Innovate and strategic thinking approach to manage finances
Ability to deal effectively with stakeholders
High level of integrity
Highly motivated, and able to exert positive influence to achieve key deliverables
Analytical, interpersonal, advanced numeracy and computer skills
Age Bracket: 35-45 years
