Job Description

Job Title: FDS Specialist

The recruiting Manager supports Technology, Fixed Business and Customer Operations.

  • Technology carries the biggest operating cost and owns a substantial portion of our capital expenditure budget
  • Fixed Business drives our fixed broadband strategy
  • Customer Operations drives Customer Experience agenda, manages our customer touchpoints and handles back office activities

The role is required to drive the strategic and operational agenda, ensuring that the team meets its objectives in an effective and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the financial evaluation of capex projects and presenting management with appropriate recommendations for investment decision making
  • Prepare post implementation reviews on relevant technology projects executed by the business
  • Manage opex reporting and ensuring appropriate cost centre reports are prepared and sent to the relevant cost centre owners with clear actions to drive efficiency
  • Drive the preparation of capex and opex budgets for all budgeting cycles, and monitoring actual against planned spends thereby producing relevant variance reports for management decisions
  • Supporting and partner the technology, fixed business and customer operations in all finance matters

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics
  • Good understanding of accounting issues with emphasis on Fixed Assets, Accrual Accounting and Operating Cost
  • At least three years working experience
  • A finance background from within the telecoms industry would a distinct advantage due to technical complexity of the environment
  • A demonstrable tract record of building commercially oriented business cases, again ideally in a telecoms environment
  • Planning and forecasting experience a distinct advantage
  • Ability to work on adhoc projects at short notice and tough time schedules

Leadership and teamwork

  • Must be able to work effortlessly within the team and across the business to drive discussions on business performance
  • Must show initiative and anticipate the needs of the team and work proactively to deliver the necessary support

  • Must have a natural inclination for seeking out new ideas and opportunities
  • Should exhibit creativity in approaching everyday challenges in the workplace

Drive

  • Must be able to plough through challenges and see all tasks to their final conclusion
  • Self-motivated, driven and committed

Technical Competence

  • Must have strong analytical, conceptual and problem solving abilities
  • Must love numbers
  • Must possess excellent attention to detail
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Communication

  • Must be able to communicate confidently both orally and in writing. Presentations to the business is a normal requirement for this role
  • Must have good interpersonal skills to support working closely with stakeholders, mainly technology
