The role is to plan, design, optimize, implement, audit, and troubleshoot the network security system to improve the efficiency of the organization Network Assets, protect the network from threats and cyber attack and other mishaps such as natural disasters. Also, the role is to provide technical support required to ensure Vodafone meets and exceeds the contractual service commitments for outsourced customized solutions.

Job Description

Job Title: Network Security Engineer

This person will perform security testing and implementation of new products or enhancements to current products and also conduct systems, applications and network penetration and vulnerability testing and reporting. The person will be responsible for support of Network administration and to act as Technology Security consultant or technical resource during Network related contract biddings and projects as well as support Network Architects. The role requires traveling/visit to remote sites and customer premises and working overnights and weekends as per exigency of works.

The position requires the ability to translate technical solutions into non-technical terms for delivery to the customer, identifying root causes and preventative measures for complex issues in a network environment.  The position additionally requires interfacing with Senior managers and their teams to secure products and services.  This position requires ownership of problems, supporting the design and implementation of new solutions, as well as supporting Corporate Security

Key Responsibilities

1. Identify, create and manage security programs to enhance the Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability of VF Ghana network (Primary) & systems (Secondary).
2. Work in collaboration with Security team members to create a unified Security approach for VF Ghana.
3. Aid design of IP Network Architecture to best practice and business optimal Security standards.
4. Analysis of AS-IS versus Median and long-term Security strategy.
5. Identify security remediation opportunities.
6. Lease with cross-departmental groups to drive Security awareness across the business.
7. Work as a key stakeholder with network and IP groups to ensure a layered security approach is adopted.
8. Formulate, document and implement performance KPIs for Security.
9. Act in an advisory and consultancy role to the business to drive Vodafone best practice Security design.
10. Lease with Planning, Development, Operations, IT and Marketing teams.
11. Lease with Global Security Groups and Industry advisories.
12. To provide guidance, local training, and assistance and to work in close liaison with other internal and external teams to resolve technical issues.
13. Ongoing creation and monitoring of Industry network device standards to ensure VF Ghana implement best in class technical systems in a timely manner.
14. Optimize network security in collaboration with Solutions Security Architect & Security team using audit, analysis tools, business processes, and frameworks.
15. Creation of network monitoring and audit systems in Collaboration with relevant teams.
16. Act as part of the Technical Security Response Team.
17. Overall responsible for securing products and services, management of the Network Infrastructure and Office IT Assets
18. Liaise with Global Security SECPOL Groups and Industry advisories.
19. Liaise with cross-departmental groups to drive Security policy awareness across the business
20. Direct and work closely with 3rd party providers including internal service providers.  Escalating within Vodafone and/or 3rd parties as needed to ensure customer SLA targets are met.
21. Work with other Business Team to align security policy with standards.
22. Own and drive security policy remediation opportunities through the core network business
23. Identify, create and manage security programs to enhance the Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability of VF Ghana services
24. Perform Penetration tests.
25. Perform periodic Network and Systems Compliance Audit. Communicate findings and corrective action in a report to management; recommend network and/or systems upgrades and improvements.
26. Work in collaboration with Security team members to create a unified Security approach for VF Ghana.
27. Ongoing creation and monitoring of Industry system policies to ensure VF Ghana implement best in class technical security standards in a timely manner.
28. Optimise network security in collaboration with Corporate and IT Network Architect & team by utilizing an implementation of the policy framework and integrated business processes.
29. Work to ensure Internal Audit Logical Security team controls are addressed.
30. Log and track all issues reported through to resolution

Core competencies, knowledge, and experience

• BSc or Professional Qualifications good to have: CCNP, CCNA, CISSP, CEH, CRISC, CISM, CISA, or equivalent
• Minimum of 5 years of broad work experience including network administration, engineering, and security
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in network and system design, access control and implementation and business control processes.
• Minimum of 4 years working knowledge of Cisco/Checkpoint/Juniper Firewall(s) and/or Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems
• Minimum of 4 years working knowledge of SSL & IPSEC VPN
• Knowledge of WAF, DAF, DAM, Load Balancer, Firewall Policy Management, Web Proxy and DDoS Systems/Solutions is an advantage
• Knowledge of IPMPLS / DCN / Services / Core Networks and transmission networks is an advantage
• Good knowledge of Mobile, Fixed Core Networks and IP Network Management.
• Knowledge of SOA and Network Architecture is an advantage
• Ability to combine technical skills with an understanding of business needs to successfully protect assets
• Strong technical and process experience required to address cross-functional requirements.
• Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and concepts
• Ability to work in sometimes high-pressure environments and to work independently.
• Knowledge of BCCM.
• Demonstrated excellent communication skills with an emphasis on the ability to discuss technical issues with non-technical people, result oriented, team player and emotionally matured
