Job Description

Job Title: Data Scientist

Role purpose:

As a Data Scientist within the Vodafone Ghana CVM team you should be experienced with and passionate about using data to explore data analytics opportunities and drive strategy, product and campaign recommendations.

The role holder should be able to engage with key stakeholders to generate hypothesis and support to design well-constructed analyses and work cross-functionally with analysts, product managers, and the operations team to effectively deliver actionable results.

You should be able to communicate as effectively in delivering complex data-driven findings with commercial managers as you are in discussing and implementing machine-learning specifications to maximize customer lifetime value within the prepaid space.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership

• Research and develop methods for measuring and analyzing direct marketing campaign impact on customer behaviour as well as revenue.
• Research and implement new methods for optimizing targeting, campaign impact and incremental revenue lift.
• Translate complex analysis on customer characteristics and behavior into key strategic insights and opportunities to the business
• Lead investigations into multiple streams of CVM inbound and outbound campaigns.
• Advice on best practice data analytics methodology for data analytics (e.g. HIVE, SAP, Tableau)

Core competencies, knowledge, and experience

• Significant experience in data analytics & deployment of models into a consumer environment in order to analyze extremely large volumes of structured data.
• Ability to Test hypothesis from Raw Data sets and draw meaningful conclusions.
• Working knowledge of statistical analytics tools (e.g. Mahout, SAS, SPSS)
• Telecommunications experience will be an advantage
• Excellent presentation and communication skills are essential
• Advanced SQL query writing skills, SQL/ SSAS /SAS skills essential.
• A key affinity to learn new techniques, push the analytical envelope as well as teach others.

Must have technical/professional qualifications:

• Bachelors or honors degree in Actuarial Science or equivalent qualification (Mathematics and Statistics)
