The Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo), a subsidiary of the Volta River Authority, whose mission is to procure electricity and distribute it efficiently, safely and reliably in the northern sector of Ghana in a commercially viable manner.

Job Description

Job Function:
Responsible for timely procurement of goods and services required for NEDCo’s operations at least cost in line with the Company’s procurement policies and the Public Procurement Act

Job Description:

Develop and formulate procurement policies, procedures and strategies in conformity with appropriate legislations in the country to enhance the procurement function
Develop systems for monitoring and managing quality assurance in all procurement processes
Responsible for negotiating and administration of procurement contracts as well as the evaluation of bids and quotations from materials suppliers
Establish and maintain a reliable register of accredited suppliers/contractors
Develop a framework for reconciling payments for all materials procured to forestall duplication of payments or non-payment
Ensure the effective operation and maintenance of procurement information management system, including manual records

Required Skills or Experience

First degree in relevant field or professional qualification in Purchasing and Supply/Procurement Management; PLUS an MBA
In-depth knowledge of appropriate legislations relating to public sector procurement
Experience in large scale procurement of goods and services, and the development of systems for the monitoring and managing quality assurance in all procurement processes
Experience in negotiations and administration of procurement contracts as well as evaluation of bids and quotations
In-depth knowledge of applicable computer software for procurement
