Job Description

(3 Years renewable contracts)
Person Specification: Eligible to work in Ghana

Plan, coordinate research activities and contribute to policy analysis towards WaterAid in Ghana’s advocacy agenda in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)
Monitor field projects, produce project reports and generate policy briefs based on field experiences for publication
Support the Policy and Partnership Department’s policy activities and execute programmes at all levels to achieve WAG’s policy influencing objectives
Contribute to WAG’s management of innovative stakeholder relationships at all levels to enhance the achievement of organisational goals
Effectively contribute to the development and implementation of WAG’s Rights Based Approach, Equity and Inclusion, among others in the delivery of water and sanitation in Ghana
Support the implementation of the local millennium development goal initiative (LMDGI) ongoing in 13Districts in Ghana
Competitive NGO salary depending on skills and experience

Required Skills or Experience

First degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Planning and Public management
Working knowledge and experience in policy analysis and development, research, advocacy and partnerships
Experience in Health, Water and sanitation sectors is desirable
At least 3-5 years minimum relevant experience in policy, research and partnerships issues
Experiences of working partners and building community based organisations will be required
Demonstrable capacity for identifying how programme and policy integration can bring about effective and sustainable development
Experience in climate change and its effects of WASH will be an Advantage
Experience working with INGOs, Government Official and other high level policy makers
Self starter, ability to work in a team and willingness to learn from others and to take on new responsibilities and challenges
Analytical reasoning skills, critical thinking and ability to interpret complex numerical information
Strong networking skills in people management and development
Culturally sensitive – is aware of and sensitive to different cultural values
Good writing, verbal, communication and editing skills
Fair knowledge in WASH and ability to learn quickly and adapt new knowledge
Demonstrable ability to meet strict deadlines
Ability to work in a team and willingness to learn from others
Good IT skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet communications
