Job Description

Job Title: Quality Control Inspector

Wood is currently recruiting for a QC Inspector Level 2 on a short term contract in Ghana.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop / implement the Quality Policy and the associated Quality Assurance system, in order to ensure that contractors comply with WORK’s specifications
  • Develop/review quality control standards and project specific written procedures for quality control/quality assurance during the construction phase based on the applicable COMPANY specifications
  • Provide QA supports as necessary and educate Sub-contractors / suppliers on Company Quality standards and requirements
  • Diagnosis of quality problems
  • Assist in the resolution of quality related problems
  • Support engineering, during engineering deliverables development, and safety departements
  • Collect and feed the lesson learnt cycle
  • Maintain surveillance of welding and fitting practices for conformance to WPS, Code, and client specific requirements (i.e. preheat, tacking, electrode storage, weld parameters)
  • Check the conformity of construction activities with approved Quality Control Plan and obtain the relevant documentation
  • Check the preparation of foundations and the correct preparation of reinforcements, element mixes
  • Monitor concrete preparation, pouring and correct curing operations
  • Check the sampling operations (when required)
  • Check materials quality by witnessing or reviewing laboratory examination results, sub-grade dry density, moisture content, compression strength test etc.
  • Orderly collect, check and manage documents certifying tests, controls and inspections carried out witnessing the tests, controls and inspections carried out
  • Receive and review all NDT reports for completeness and accuracy of code and client required information and correct identification of welds per location and line #
  • Provide field surveillance of subcontractor activities such as NDE, boring, spray, insulation, Hydro-torque, etc.
  • Supervise / participate in the production of mark-up of as built drawings with welder, NDE, and MTR information
  • Assist in the production of hydro test packages, torque joint packages, and final redline drawings for permanent record and client turnover
  • Provide inspection of assemblies prior to hydro testing to ensure all MTRs, NDE, and visual inspections are complete and issue punch list / test clearance forms prior to hydrotest
  • Witness hydro tests to ensure all required test and calibration documentation are available and relevant and that the test procedures conform

Skills / Qualifications

  • Technical Diploma (Engineering degree preferred)
  • NDE Level 2 Certified
  • 10 Years of Oil & Gas experience
  • 5 Years of quality assurance and control experience
  • ISO 9000 Series and Quality & Safety general knowledge
  • Guidelines & Procedures Definitions, Law Compliance Analysis & Assessment, Due Diligence & Permitting, Technical Specs & Standards Definitions, Information & Training, Contractors Specs, Qualification & Auditing
  • Knowledge – able in quality control testing and inspection
  • Implement Quality Control program for Oil & Gas on-shore and off – shore construction projects
  • Ability to work with and communicate effectively with subcontractors, superintendents, engineering staff, consultants and owner’s representatives
  • Ability to coordinate inspection and testing activities with subcontractors
  • Ability to record and organize all necessary documentation to maintain traceability of the implementation, maintenance and effectiveness of the Quality Control Program
  • Ability to speak clearly and exercise good judgment
  • Ability to work during nights
  • Ability to use MS office to provide written reports and maintenance of QC records
