World Food Programme is the United Nations frontline agency in the fight against global hunger.  Since its launch, WFP staff around the world have worked tirelessly towards reducing hunger.  In 2010, WFP aims to provide food assistance to more than 90 million people in 73 countries. World Food Programme Ghana recruits Programme Assistants

Grade: G4
Contract Type: One year renewable


Assist in the planning and coordination of training programmes for smallholder/low income farmers in close liaison with the government and the partners;
Monitor and evaluate the progress of food procurement from smallholder/low income farmer organisations
Attend meetings that are relevant to the project and brief unit management accordingly;
Monitor the functioning of the farmers’ collection points and assess the needs in terms of issues related to storage and handling
Assist in the preparation of quality agriculture market-related project documents including drafting of proposals and MOUs;
Assist the unit in the development of monthly, quarterly and annual reports or any other form of report;
Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisors.

Required Skills or Experience



Applicants should have a sound judgment, ability to resolve operational problems and have skills and ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing, ability to work in a team and establish effective working relationship with persons of different national and cultural backgrounds coupled with the following:
University .Degree, or post graduate studies in Agriculture with special focus in one of or more of the following areas – Agricultural Economics, Agri-business, Agricultural Marketing or any other related discipline from a recognised and reputable institution;
At least minimum 2-3 years relevant working experience in a related field gained from reputable organisations in relevant field and good working knowledge and experience using MS office applications is a must.
