The Right to Dream Academy, based in Ghana, is at the forefront of development-focused elite sport in Africa with a unique talent development model and an ambition to become the world’s leading multi-sport academy. The world class talent in our catchment area, coupled with Right to Dream’s first class programmes to identify and develop talented young sportsmen and women mean that we are uniquely positioned to achieve this goal.

Right to Dream (RtD) has exhibited amazing growth since inception. Through hard work and dedication, we’ve transformed the academy from a small, temporary facility into one of Africa’s leading sport and education campuses. Today, the Academy has a multi-million dollar, purpose-built facility in the Eastern Region of Ghana, on the banks of the river Volta. West Africa’s most talented male and female footballers are educated at our Cambridge-accredited school and trained at the best football facility in the region.

In the past five years, the Academy has produced 13 junior and senior international footballers, with four players representing the national team during the last year. In the past five years, we have produced 19 professional footballers, who have signed for English Premier League clubs including Manchester City and Fulham, as well as playing in the top divisions in countries including France, Spain and Russia. Our graduates have made appearances in both the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League.

32 of our graduates have gone on to win scholarships at leading schools and universities around the world, including The Hotchkiss School (USA) and Millfield School (UK), and universities such as Williams College and Georgetown. The value of scholarships awarded to RtD graduates has exceeded US$7 million. The recent introduction of girls to RtD is a global first and is destined to produce many of our continent’s best female footballers in the future while challenging and changing perceptions of gender equality in Africa. We are also working to establish the first ever residential youth Parasports programme, which will create role models who will challenge how disability is perceived in Africa.

The core motivation of our work is to produce a generation of leaders and role models capable of leading the massive change required on the African continent. The initial success of RtD has only scratched the surface of the potential our vision holds.

Our success has also opened many partnership, sponsorship and commercial opportunities that we are now seeking to exploit. Right to Dream is a Social Enterprise with NGO status in Ghana. Our development to date has been financed by commercial and CSR sponsorships, philanthropic giving, commercial partnerships and commercial activities that our unique position presents us with. Our business plan seeks to maintain all current revenue streams and focus on the development of sustainable sources of revenue through the growth and development of current and future commercial opportunities.
