Currently, 54 students from eight countries (Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Niger, Nigeria and Senegal) are enrolled.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Finance Officer<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Centre is seeking a highly motivated person for the above role.<\/p>\n<p>The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient and effective management of the finance function at the Centre and will report to the Director or his representative.\u00a0The employment will be for an initial period of two years begining August 1, 2013.<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nMain\u00a0Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Financial planning and control, including cash flow management<\/li>\n<li>Preparation and submission of timely and accurate financial reports to Management and donors<\/li>\n<li>Proper management of donor funds in strict adherence to donor grant agreements<\/li>\n<li>Processing of payroll and general payments<\/li>\n<li>Preparation of budgets and regular expenditure plans and variance reports<\/li>\n<li>Preparation of long term financial forecasts for review and approval by management<\/li>\n<li>Liaising with auditors to ensure timely and accurate completion of internal and external audits<\/li>\n<li>Assisting in the development of proposals to source for additional funding for the Centre<\/li>\n<li>Preparation of monthly bank reconciliation statements<\/li>\n<li>Preparation and filling of monthly statutory returns<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring safe custody of non-current assets by maintaining an accurate assets register<\/li>\n<li>Any other duties as may be assigned by the Director or his representative<span style=\"font-size: 13px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Required Skills or Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A\u00a0bachelor&#8217;s degree in Accounting or related field from a recognized University<\/li>\n<li>Post-graduate degree in Finance and\/or additional professional accounting qualification will be an advantage<\/li>\n<li>At least two years relevant working experience in an academic institution, project, public sector agency, non-governmental organisation, private sector company or multinational organisation<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of computerised accounting systems-proficiency in\u00a0Sage Pastel ERP\u00a0accounting software is an advantage<\/li>\n<li>Excellent communication skills (spoken and written English)<span style=\"font-size: 13px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>How To Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Interested persons should submit applications, together with a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae and names of two referees conversant with applicant&#8217;s professional competence (preferably by electronic mail) to:<\/p>\n<div><strong>The Director (<\/strong><a href=\"mailto:eyed2@cornell.edu\">eyd2@cornell.edu<\/a><strong>)<br \/>\nWest\u00a0Africa Centre for Crop Improvement (WACCI)<br \/>\nSchool of Agriculture<br \/>\nCollege of Agriculture and Consumer Sciences<br \/>\nPMB\u00a030<br \/>\nUniversity of\u00a0Ghana<br \/>\nLegon<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WACCI\u00a0is a semi-autonomous Centre in the University of Ghana established with funding from AGRA to train a new generation of Plant Breeders at the PhD level.
