{"id":12222,"date":"2014-11-14T07:36:07","date_gmt":"2014-11-14T07:36:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistghana.com\/?p=12222"},"modified":"2016-11-18T09:17:24","modified_gmt":"2016-11-18T09:17:24","slug":"british-high-commission-recruiting-trade-support-officer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistghana.com\/british-high-commission-recruiting-trade-support-officer.html","title":{"rendered":"British High Commission Recruiting Trade Support Officer"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>The British High Commission (BHC) Accra has a vacancy for an<strong>A2 (L)<\/strong> <strong>Trade Support Officer <\/strong>in the UK Trade &amp; Investment section.<\/p>\n<p>UK Trade &amp; Investment is the Government organisation that helps UK based companies succeed in international markets, and overseas companies to bring high quality investment to the UK\u2019s vibrant economy.\u00a0 It has two parent government departments, the Foreign &amp; Commonwealth Office (FCO) and the Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS).<\/p>\n<p>UKTI Ghana is a small but busy team which offers a diverse, lively and challenging range of experience and opportunities to the successful applicant.\u00a0 This is an exciting opportunity for candidates with the right experience and competences, to be part of an award-winning international trade organisation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The main elements of the job include<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Direct support to the Head of UKTI Ghana and to the Energy and Infrastructure Trade Development Managers through:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Advising and supporting UK companies with their business interests in Ghana and responding to a large number of enquiries with particular focus on the Energy and Infrastructure sectors<\/li>\n<li>Providing support to deliver a range of services to UK companies through the Overseas Market Introduction Service (OMIS) platform (market research, event management, meeting programmes, validating commercial contacts, due diligence enquiries etc.), and other UKTI service deliveries<\/li>\n<li>Support in producing and maintaining high quality sector reports and trade information to inform UK industry stakeholders of developments in Ghana \u2013 to be published online<\/li>\n<li>Support in researching opportunities and regulatory information in the Energy and Infrastructure sectors, and uploading them onto the UKTI portal online<\/li>\n<li>Support for trade mission visits to Ghana and the UK<\/li>\n<li>Support in facilitating regular British Business Group meetings<\/li>\n<li>General administrative support duties<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Required Skills or Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Selection Criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A university degree or equivalent<\/li>\n<li>Work experience in an office environment<\/li>\n<li>A general understanding of the Ghanaian private and public sectors and economy in general<\/li>\n<li>An understanding of international trade issues<\/li>\n<li>Public speaking skills<\/li>\n<li>Strong IT skills using Microsoft software, (word, excel and PowerPoint)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Key Competencies<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The British High Commission staff work to the UK Civil Service Competency Framework relevant to each job. Thereafter, the appointment will be renewed for periods of 12 months.
