On 25th July 2014 the Director-General (DG) of the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the Ebola outbreak to be a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) under the International Health Regulations (2005), and grading the outbreak to Grade 3 in line with the WHO Emergency Response Framework (ERF). There is heightened concern about the risk of Ebola spreading to other countries and Ghana was classified as being at high risk of importation of cases.<\/p>\n<p>Against this background, WCO Ghana mobilized resources to increase its capacity to support the national authorities and partners with EVD preparedness and response activities. As the outbreak becomes under control in the sub-region, efforts are being geared up towards medium to long term interventions aimed at reinforcing and sustaining social mobilization efforts, scaling up media activities and advocacy efforts with opinion leaders, political, traditional and community leaders and building capacity for risk communication.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Closing date: Wednesday, 5 August 2015 The mission of WHO is the attainment by all peoples of the highest possible level of health.
