The Center for Applied Public Health Research (CAPHR) in the Biostatistics and Epidemiology Division of RTI International (RTI) is currently seeking a Programme Officer with public health program management experience.
\nPublic health surveillance experience is preferred, particularly with antimicrobial resistance and infectious diseases. This position is focused on the goals of bolstering low and middle income country (LMIC) capacity to improve the surveillance of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), including the collection, management and analysis, use and sharing of AMR data and related issues in the global community in accordance with a One Health programme being initiated to support LMICs in tackling AMR.
\nThe Programme Officer will utilize his\/her technical capabilities in public health program management, infectious disease epidemiology and\/or surveillance to help country grantees create comprehensive national plans to combat antimicrobial resistance, identify gaps in capacity for AMR, and to improve policies and systems for infection prevention and control. Areas of work may be in public health capacity development, field epidemiology, and surveillance and laboratory systems strengthening, One Health research, Global Health Security, and\/or applied public health research on infectious diseases in various international settings in in Africa.<\/p>\n

The successful candidate is expected to develop collaborative relationships with other project staff, interact with internal and external clients and partners, and bring innovative ideas, methodologies and approaches to problems associated with AMR and infectious disease surveillance and response in the global setting.
