Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nDepartment: United Nations Department for Safety and Security<\/p>\n

The role of this post is to provide support in the installment and maintenance of telecommunication equipment and transfer knowledge and training to other staff on the use and maintenance of telecommunication equipments. Direct supervision and guidance received from the Security Advisor.<\/p>\n

Install all types of UNDSS communication equipments with particular attention to ensure the proper operation and maintenance of the field equipment comprising of VSAT and PBX telecommunication systems;
\nCarry out general and preventive maintenance of RFC Units, Satellite Modems, Multiplexers and Antennas;
\nInspect system power resources (generator, inverters, rectifiers, stabilizers, UPS devices) and ensure that safety precautions are followed;
\nEnsure that the equipment under his\/her responsibility is in good working condition by inspecting regularly the installations and arranging promptly repairs or replacement as necessary;
\nMaintain records of the installations and repairs done and keep the SA fully informed on status of equipment;
\nKeep a proper inventory level of all sites spares and return spare parts for repair \/ replacement;
\nProvide technical briefing \/ training on the equipment ensuring that Radio Operators and users are able to maintain\/use the equipment;
\nPerforms other duties as required.

Required Skills or Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n

Education:<\/strong><\/p>\n

High School diploma with a recognized telecommunictions technician qualification and\/or formal training on satellite communication (PABX, PAMA, satellite systems)
\nAt least 6 years of relevant professional job experience
\nLanguage Requirements:
\nExcellent knowledge of English and working knowledge of a relevant UN Language (French) is an advantage
