The mine is within the Bibiani gold belt and consists of 11 deposits. Open pit and underground ore are processed at the Chirano plant. The capacity of the mill is approximately 3.5 million tonnes per annum. Processing involves crushing, ball mill grinding, leaching, and CIL.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0ITH Driller<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As an important member of the Underground Mining Team, your key duties are to train members of the mine development team in the safe operations of Jumbo Drill Rig operations for mine development and installation of ground support to quality specifications safely and efficiently. The ITH Driller \/ Trainer is also responsible for training quality outcomes in the development process in terms of advance rates, over\/under break and installation of ground support in accordance with Mines Geotechnical Plan. The position will also be Operations centric.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The ITH Drill Trainer is responsible for the immediate leadership, training and production ITH Drill equipment in the Underground mining operations at Chirano.<\/li>\n<li>The ITH Drill Trainer will ensure safe and efficient activities of the two ITH Drill Rigs.<\/li>\n<li>In addition the ITH Drill Trainer will provide support training and supervision of the Sandvik Solo drill rigs (DL-431-7C model) that are used for production blasthole drilling.<\/li>\n<li>The ITH Drill Trainer should be very familiar with the Cubex ITH drill equipment, including the operation of the Machines Roger V-30 attachment for reaming 30 inch (0.75 m diameter) bore holes.<\/li>\n<li>Promote and maintain safe working practices including safe and efficient Production ITH and Longhole Drilling practices<\/li>\n<li>Training the Drillers in operating, organizing and planning the shift, meeting weekly targets and maintaining a high standard of work<\/li>\n<li>Providing competency assessments and operational improvement plans for the ITH and Longhole drill teams.<\/li>\n<li>Work with technical and supervisory staff in quality and safety initiatives, understand and teach KPIs, reading drill plans.<\/li>\n<li>Work with supply chain and maintenance to develop appropriate consumable and maintenance spare parts to ensure good machine availability.<\/li>\n<li>Understands hazard identification, proactive in managing worksite for safe and organized ITH drilling.<\/li>\n<li>Understands requirements for booster compressed air systems which are necessary for efficient operation of Cubex ITH drills.<\/li>\n<li>Able to teach nationals in a challenging work environment where English is spoken but patience is important in skills transfer.<\/li>\n<li>Must have a good temperament for working with nationals who will have limited experience working on ITH and Solo drills, and be able to bring up their skills and abilities to work independently to achieve the targeted drill plans.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure all tasks or activities are executed and aligned with Standard Operating Procedures and Safe Work Instructions at all times<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Education and Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Basic electrical and mechanical knowledge of jumbo rigs<br \/>\nCurrently employed in an underground operation as a Jumbo operator<br \/>\nDetailed knowledge of the operation of large jumbos either single or multi-boom rigs<br \/>\nAbility to read and understand detailed survey prints and layouts<br \/>\nAbility to read and understand designed ground support plans<br \/>\nExperience with V-30 boring head will be highly regarded<br \/>\nCurrent and valid driver\u2019s license required<br \/>\nGood knowledge and operating experience of underground mobile equipment particularly underground loading and mucking equipment together with charge up equipment<br \/>\nCurrent and valid Driver\u2019s license required<br \/>\nA train-the-trainers or supervisory certificate of competency would also be well regarded<br \/>\nWorking knowledge in Surpac Drill and Blast layouts &amp; Microsoft Office Suite<br \/>\nFirst Aid Certificate preferred<\/p>\n<p>Kinross is a Canadian-based gold mining company with mines and projects in Canada, the United States, Brazil, Chile, Russia, Ghana and Mauritania, employing approximately 9,300 people worldwide.
