Chirano is located in southwestern Ghana, approximately 100 kilometres southwest of Kumasi, Ghana’s second largest city. The mine is within the Bibiani gold belt and consists of 11 deposits. Open pit and underground ore are processed at the Chirano plant. The capacity of the mill is approximately 3.5 million tonnes per annum. Processing involves crushing, ball mill grinding, leaching, and CIL.<\/p>\n

\n\u2022 Oversees activities related to the researching, analysis and interpretation of geological information and ensures that service and \/ or operating standards are met (internally and \/ or externally); ensures regulatory compliance with respect to mineral resource and reserve estimate
\n\u2022 Advises on a variety of internal and \/ or external requests such as identifying and analyzing business requirements and the implications for the team; identifies gaps and implements agree upon solutions; making recommendations for opportunities that could maximize efficiency and productivity of the operation
\n\u2022 May lead and manage a team in the geological department responsible for executing exploration \/ operations strategies which would involve establishing project plans and milestones, analyzing risks, developing budgets and delegating work assignments
\n\u2022 Assists in the consolidation of the company\u2019s resources and reserve estimates at the corporate level and assists in establishing processes related to geology and resource modeling; actively monitors the developments in the industry related to resource modeling and reporting
\n\u2022 Provides geological and resource modeling support to operations and development projects and participates in due diligence reviews and compilation of engineering studies
\n\u2022 Understands surface and underground mine engineering, metallurgical testing, mineral processing, cost estimation, construction methodologies, geographical variations in regulations, cultural practices, cost structures and operational requirements and consistently applies to all technical and evaluation situations
\n\u2022 Communicates geology-related information including the provision of information on operating standards, compliance requirements and policies to key stakeholders
\n\u2022 Acts as a change agent and project sponsor for metallurgy initiatives; models organizational values, sets the cultural tone, and prioritizes business goals
\n\u2022 Identifies strategies and key performance goals and acts as an advisor to direct reports and \/ or more junior team members<\/p>\n
\n\u2022 University degree in Geology or related field preferred
\n\u2022 Additional specialized education of up to 4 years
\n\u2022 Formal professional or technical registration in appropriate area of expertise preferred<\/p>\n
\n\u2022 Generally more than 8 years of related work experience or equivalent
\n\u2022 Previous experience in mining industry is preferred
\n\u2022 Geological and resource modeling experience<\/p>\n
\n\u2022 Aptitude and interest in regulatory affairs and research development<\/p>\n
\n\u2022 Typically reports into the Chief Geologist \/ Exploration Manager \/ Technical Services Manager<\/p>\n
