In 2001, Diana Rickard, then a medical student, traveled to Ghana to assess the need for a community organization. Humjibre was chosen as the site for Ghana Health and Education Initiative because of its community clinic, presence of several schools and Clement Donkor, then Humjibre\u2019s assemblyman, who offered to locally spearhead the project.<\/p>\n

Project work began in 2003. GHEI started with two programs: one in reproductive health, and the Youth Education Program, which began with 16 students.<\/p>\n

From 2004 to 2007, GHEI continued to expand with the construction and opening of our Community Center, Humjibre Community Library and new classroom space. During this time, we also began ourScholarship Program and introduced the Career Opportunity Lecture Series.
\nIn 2008, a new malaria prevention intervention was employed in Soroano as part of a UCLA research study, including follow-up data collection. Community health workers were also hired in Soroano to promote and monitor bednet use. New housing for volunteers in Humjibre was constructed.<\/p>\n

Job Title:\u00a0Education Program Coordinator<\/strong><\/p>\n

GHEI is recruiting for an Education Program Coordinator to be based in Humjibre, Ghana.<\/p>\n

Start Date<\/strong>: November\/December 2016<\/p>\n

Duration<\/strong>: 13-24 months<\/p>\n

Job Summary<\/strong>:
\nThe Education Program Coordinator (EPC) manages a wide range of GHEI educational programming in coordination with the local Education Program Manager (EPM)\/Assistant Country Director (ACD). In addition to management duties, the EPC will continue to build the capacity of the EPM\/ACD, with the ultimate goal of combining the EPC and EPM duties into a single, locally staffed position. Additional duties may also include research activities, grant proposal writing, curriculum development and running training sessions.<\/p>\n
