IPA designs, rigorously evaluates, and refines these solutions and their applications together with decision-makers to ensure that the evidence created is used to improve opportunities for the world\u2019s poor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Assistant Psychotherapy Counselor,\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Escaping Poverty (CBT) Project<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Reports to:<\/strong>\u00a0Implementation Associate<\/li>\n<li><strong>Location:<\/strong>\u00a0 Ashanti &amp; Brong Ahafo Regions<\/li>\n<li><strong>Deadline to apply:<\/strong>\u00a026<sup>th\u00a0<\/sup>August, 2016<\/li>\n<li><strong>Duration:<\/strong>\u00a05 months (maximum)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Desired start date:<\/strong>\u00a01<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0October, 2016<\/li>\n<li><strong>Job code<\/strong>: EP-APC-09082016<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>IPA Ghana seeks to hire Lead Psychotherapy Counselors and Assistant Psychotherapy Counselors, who will support a project that aims to provide Cognitive Behavioral Group Interventions (CBGI) to a group of program participants in selected rural communities in the Ashanti and Brong Ahafo Regions of Ghana. This project is a collaboration between the University of Ghana Medical School, The Department of Economics at Yale University and Innovations for Poverty Action.<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>Position Summary<\/strong><\/u><br \/>\nThe Assistant Counselors, working closely with their Lead Counselors, Field Manager, Implementation Associate and senior\u00a0researchers, will be trained in providing CBGI in group settings. Upon successful completion of training, they will provide group counseling sessions to program participants from selected rural communities of the Ashanti and Brong Ahafo Regions, for a period of 12 weeks.<\/p>\n<p><u><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n<p><strong>Specifically, the Assistant Counselors will:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist the Lead Counselor to provide two counseling sessions a day, following the CBGI curriculum provided by the researchers<\/li>\n<li>Take attendance records and identify absentee participants.<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate with Community Mobilizer in locating absentee participants and reschedule them for missed sessions<\/li>\n<li>Assist participants with skill demonstrations during breakout sessions<\/li>\n<li>Maintain good, professional relationships with the communities and the program participants\n<ul>\n<li>Report any issues or concerns immediately to the Lead Counselor and Implementation Associate<\/li>\n<li>Participate in weekly session rehearsal meetings with the Implementation Associate and other project staff<\/li>\n<li>Carry out other tasks assigned by the Implementation Associate, Lead Counselor, or other project staff.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required Skills or Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>At minimum, both Lead and Assistant Counselors must have a Bachelor\u2019s degree with\u00a0majors\/concentration in Psychology.<\/li>\n<li>Fluency in the Akan languages (Asante Twi; Akuapim Twi; Bono) and English.
