The University of Health and Allied Sciences, hereby, invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the senior level administrative positions listed below, to take effect from\u00a01st<\/sup>\u00a0November, 2016<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n

Job Title:\u00a0Director of Research Services<\/strong><\/p>\n

Reporting to:\u00a0Vice Chancellor<\/strong><\/p>\n

POSITION SUMMARY:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The successful candidate will support the Vice-Chancellor to ensure that the research mandate of the University is fulfilled.<\/p>\n

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Director shall develop policies for research and oversee of the following:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Research Management;<\/li>\n
  2. Outreach and Extension;<\/li>\n
  3. Marketing\/IP\/Patenting;<\/li>\n
  4. Publications; and<\/li>\n
  5. Fund Raising.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \u00a0<\/strong>The Director shall specifically have the responsibility to:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Provide leadership, supervise and motivate his\/her team to deliver set goals and targets;<\/li>\n
    2. Developing systems, processes and structures to manage research<\/li>\n
    3. Develop and lead effective strategies for fund raising for research;<\/li>\n
    4. Set standards and ensure effective dissemination of high quality research output;<\/li>\n
    5. Set, prioritize and meet targets that will drive UHAS\u2019s research enterprise;<\/li>\n
    6. Foster industry-University relations for mutual benefit;<\/li>\n
    7. Ensure the professional development of assigned staff in order to be abreast with current trends and policies in research management;<\/li>\n
    8. Promote the development of faculty capability and capacity to deliver high quality research output; and<\/li>\n
    9. Undertake any other responsibilities as specified by the Vice-Chancellor<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n

        \n
      1. The candidate shall be of the rank of at least a Deputy Registrar or eligible for appointment as such.<\/li>\n
      2. Must have a good postgraduate degree, with not less than ten (10) years progressively responsible experience in Research Management.<\/li>\n
      3. In addition, the applicant must have:\n
          \n
        1. considerable strategic, interpersonal and collegial skills that will enable him\/her to function within the Higher Education Sector;<\/li>\n
        2. good business sense with a deep understanding and appreciation of the strategic and operational issues;<\/li>\n
        3. high-level analytical skills and demonstrable evidence of competence and leadership.<\/li>\n
        4. experienced research manager with proven research management record evidenced by number of research projects managed, \u00a0 He\/she must also possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills;<\/li>\n
        5. demonstrated experience\/technical knowledge in developing and implementing research related policies;<\/li>\n
        6. experience in working collaboratively to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including the donor community;<\/li>\n
        7. strong managerial skills especially in research management.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Tenure<\/strong><\/p>\n

          The person appointed Director of Research Services shall hold office for a period of four years and is eligible for re-appointment.<\/p>\n
