The organization\u2019s mission is to be a catalyst for long-lasting positive change in low- and moderate-income communities around the world, helping them improve their social, economic, and environmental conditions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0CLTS Field Staff<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Summary<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Global Communities (formerly CHF International) a Non-Governmental Organization is looking for suitable candidates to fill 8 slots for the position of CLTS Field Staff for the 5-year USAID funded WASH For Health project. This project aims at making improved water supply and sanitation accessible to all Ghanaians while promoting the knowledge, attitudes and behaviors needed to make this intervention sustainable. WASH for Health will focus on targeted communities in the Northern, Western, Central, Volta and Greater Accra regions of Ghana.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Locations: (Western Region) 1 slot for Sefwi Akontombra; 1 slot for Mpohor<\/li>\n<li>(Central Region) 1 slot for Assin North; 1 slot for Upper Denkyira<\/li>\n<li>(Greater Accra Region) 1 slot for Shai Osu Doku<\/li>\n<li>(Volta Region) 1 slot for Krachi East<\/li>\n<li>(Northern Region) 1 slot for Bole; 1 slot for Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Districts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Reports to<\/strong>: CLTS Specialist<\/p>\n<p>The CLTS Field Staff should have knowledge in the Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) protocol for rural basic sanitation delivery in Ghana. \u00a0S\/he is expected to work with a team of Water and Sanitation experts to ensure a well-coordinated effort in achieving project goals. \u00a0S\/he will also provide support to the LNGOs (where applicable) and Environmental Health Assistants (EHAs) to assist communities to attain ODF status with evidence of construction of improved household latrines. Through constant monitoring s\/he is to ensure that ODF\/hygiene behaviour change is sustained. \u00a0S\/he will be expected to provide support to the LNGOs (where applicable) and monitor their progress on behaviour change and CLTS activities in communities. S\/he will also be expected to work with EHAs, local community members (Natural Leaders) and other partners that Global Communities will endorse to constitute an effective monitoring system to help CLTS-triggered communities to progress to attain and sustain ODF-status.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Work with the LNGOs (where applicable) and District Assembly staff including Environmental Health Officers\/Assistants (EHO\/As), Community Development Officers (CDOs) and District Health Promotion Officers (HPOs) to ensure that communities attain the ODF status.<\/li>\n<li>Oversee LNGOs and EHAs CLTS activities in beneficiary communities. \u00a0These include Pre-Triggering, Triggering and Post Triggering activities.<\/li>\n<li>Assist LNGOs and EHAs to conduct community profile analysis and development of hygiene and sanitation action plans.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that communities are implementing their hygiene and sanitation action plans and practices.<\/li>\n<li>Together with the LNGO and EHAs assist communities to identify appropriate financing options in the promotion of household toilets.<\/li>\n<li>Monitor the construction of household latrines<\/li>\n<li>Together with the LNGOs and EHAs do assessment of communities which have achieved ODF and link them to the DICCS for the District and Regional verifications.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in frequent experience sharing workshops with regional and district level stakeholders including CWSA, DWSTs and other stakeholders in the WASH sector<\/li>\n<li>Continually measure progress for behaviour change and benchmark progress.<\/li>\n<li>Monitor BCC activities by LNGO (where applicable) and EHAs in the schools.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct monitoring &amp; evaluation of activities and collect data based upon performance targets. Ensure that local NGOs are implementing these targets in their project plans for achieving water and sanitation behaviour change in schools and communities.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare weekly and monthly reports.<\/li>\n<li>S\/he should be prepared to work in the district<\/li>\n<li>Represent the project as needed particularly by attending monthly meetings at the District capital.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required Skills or Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum of a Diploma degree in Social Science, Public Health, Hygiene, Sociology or related fields with training in water and sanitation practices.<\/li>\n<li>Minimum of 3 years\u2019 experience in rural development with a focus on water facility management, sanitation, health and hygiene promotion.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of CLTS and community based approaches to behaviour change and factors leading to sustainable change.<\/li>\n<li>An understanding of and experience in utilizing the required\/appropriate PRA tools in community development<\/li>\n<li>Significant experience of management of integrated programming at the district level<\/li>\n<li>Experience working with local partners and government support projects<\/li>\n<li>Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Competencies<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability and\/or willingness to use a motorbike<\/li>\n<li>Ability to travel extensively to remote areas at short notice<\/li>\n<li>Excellent interpersonal, supervisory and organizational skills<\/li>\n<li>Significant skills in planning processes with multiple stakeholders<\/li>\n<li>Strong team-building and leadership skills<\/li>\n<li>Detail-oriented approach to field activities<\/li>\n<li>Report writing skills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applications should be sent to: <strong>contact@ghana.chfinternational.org<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>21st October 2016<\/strong> with the job title and preferred location in the subject line.<\/p>\n<p>Applications submitted after this date, and without a job title &amp; a preferred location will not be considered.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Global Communities is a development organization serving more than 20 million people worldwide each year.
