The Local Government Service is the newest of the public services of Ghana. It is established by Local Government Service Act 2003 Act 656 with its objective being to secure effective administration and management of local government in the country.<\/p>\n

\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Regulate the use and conduct of public vehicles, including the routes and parking places in accordance with provisions in the Driver Vehicle Licensing I Authority (DVLA) Act (Act 569);
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Provide for the identification of licensed vehicles;
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Establish, acquires and maintains transport services by land or water including ferries;
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Maintain records of classified contractors and consultants in the transport services industry within the Assembly;
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Assist in the review of road designs by consultants for designated roads;
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Coordinate the activities of Operations, Planning and Traffic Management and Safety sections in such a way as to bring about effective utilization of resources;
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Ensure the development of the capabilities, skills and knowledge of staff;
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Establish, maintain and control parks for motor and other vehicles; and
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Prepare composite and comprehensive progress and annual reports on transport works in the Assembly<\/p>\n
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 A minimum of Eight (8) years working experience in the Public Service with two (2) years in a managerial position;
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Must be in the Professional Cadre of the Engineering Group or Development Planning class;
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Must be a staff of the Local Government Service, and
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Membership of a recognized professional body will be an advantage<\/p>\n
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Ability to facilitate collaboration across teams to achieve a common goal;
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Ability to initiate, define and address high-level challenges and opportunities;
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Ability to use variety of communication strategies\/ modes to promote dialogue and develop shared understanding and consensus;
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Be able to analyze and synthesize information to understand issues, identify options and support sound decision making; and
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Must be computer literate.<\/p>\n
