The Local Government Service is the newest of the public services of Ghana. It is established by Local Government Service Act 2003 Act 656 with its objective being to secure effective administration and management of local government in the country.<\/p>\n

\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Collaborate with all regional heads (Social Welfare and Community Development) for their technical backstopping and monitoring;
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Formulate operational policies and coordinate community-based projects\/ day care centres and services for the rehabilitation of the physically challenged;
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Oversee efficient juvenile justice administration and implementation of statutory legal instruments;
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Monitor and evaluate programmes, policies and emerging social issues such as HIV\/AIDS, domestic violence and child abuse, and make recommendations for decision making;
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Provide technical advice in the recruitment, performance and development of the capabilities, skills and knowledge of staff; and
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Prepare composite and comprehensive progress and annual reports on the activities of Social Welfare and Community Development in the Assembly<\/p>\n
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 A minimum of Eight (8) years working experience in the Public Service with two (2) years in a managerial position;
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Must be in the Professional Cadre of the Social Welfare and Community Development Class;
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Must be a staff of the Local Government Service, and
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Membership of a recognized professional body will be an advantage.<\/p>\n
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Ability to facilitate collaboration across teams to achieve a common goal;
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Ability to initiate, define and address high-level challenges and opportunities;
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Ability to use variety of communication strategies\/ modes to promote dialogue and develop shared understanding and consensus;
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Be able to analyze and synthesize information to understand issues, identify options and support sound decision making; and
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Must be computer literate.<\/p>\n
\nDepartment of any MMDAs are not allowed to apply for any of these posts;<\/p>\n
