Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n

Job Title:\u00a0Community Action Plan (CAP) Coordinator<\/strong><\/p>\n

Community Action Plan (CAP) Coordinator, MOCA Project in Cocoa Growing Communities in the Ashanti and Western Regions<\/p>\n

Winrock International is recruiting applicants for the position of Community Action Plan (CAP) Coordinator for the Mobilizing Community Action and Promoting Youth Employment in Ghana\u2019s Cocoa Growing Communities (MOCA) project. The goal of the MOCA project is to reduce child labor in the cocoa growing areas of Ghana, with a special focus on youth 15-17 years old who are either at risk of or engaged in hazardous labor.<\/p>\n

Position Description<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 The CAP Coordinator supports communities to establish and strengthen CAP Committees to adopt and effectively manage activities leading to broader awareness of child labor issues and increased access to education, skills development, and social protection services for youth 15-17 years old who are either at risk of or engaged in hazardous labor.\u00a0 The CAP Coordinator supervises the work of a team of Regional Mobilizers across the 4 districts who build the capacity of CAP Committees for CAP development, youth involvement and leadership, advocacy and engagement with District Assemblies, child labor awareness and child protection activities.<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 As a senior member of the MOCA project team, the CAP Coordinator works with the MOCA team, including staff, local partners, District Planning Officers, District Offices of relevant ministries, and stakeholder groups in focus communities to: carry out community assessments;supervise and support a team of Regional Mobilizers in training CAP Committees on the community action planning process; support the development and implementation ofthe CAPs at the community level focused on addressing child labor; and collect data at regular intervals for reporting and assessing progress on achieving targets and project objectives.<\/p>\n

Location of Position<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 The CAP Coordinator will be employed by CODESULT, a local NGO that is an implementing partner under the MOCA project.\u00a0 CODESULTleads the MOCAcommunity engagement activities.\u00a0 As with all MOCA senior program staff, the CAP Coordinator position reports to the MOCA Project Director and is based in the MOCA Project Office located in AdarkoJachie, about 15kms south of Kumasi.<\/p>\n

Key Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Coordinate the Community Assessment and Community Entry processes for the planned 40 MOCA focus communities in Ashanti and Western Regions.
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Lead theCAP development, advocacy, leadership, and other training provided to CAP Committees
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Supervise Regional Mobilizers and other MOCA staff to mentor and support CAP Committees to design and implement effective CAPs
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Coordinate periodic review with CAP Committees on progress with CAP implementation
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Coordinate closely with M&E Specialist and other technical specialists on data collection to measure impacts, including, but not limited to, incomes, household and business investments, and savings.<\/p>\n

Qualification Required & Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Bachelor\u2019s degree required (MBA or master\u2019s degree preferred) in development studies, sociology, political science, social agriculture or forestry, economics or related field. Supplemental training in income generation\/entrepreneurship, monitoring and evaluation, gender analysis\/mainstreaming, microfinance preferred.
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Minimum of 4 years of experience in a leadership position working with communities to develop, implement, and monitor progress of CAPs and other plans that address community needs. Preference given to applicants with experience in cocoa growing communities
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the challenges and approaches to addressing child labor, especially for youth 15-17 in cocoa-growing communities.
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Experience designing and implementing community development projects to address poverty, including projects focused rural development, livelihood promotion, and increased agricultural production.
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Demonstrated capacity to facilitate training using participatory methods and develop mentoring interventions at community level
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Experience implementing community assessments and tracking progress on community development plans
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Demonstrated knowledge and experience identifying and linking communities to government services and support, especially at district levels
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 A working knowledge of cocoa growing communities, especially those in the focus Ashanti and Western Regions
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Fluent Twi required, Sefwi a plus
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Excellent written and oral communication skill in English is required.<\/p>\n
