Under the over all guidance of the Country Director and direct supervision of the Economic Advisor, the Economic Analyst will analyse macro-economic policies and trends and their relevant linkages to UNDP Programmes. The Analyst will contribute significantly to the analysis for formulation of strategies and briefings to Senior Management. She\/he will work with Government and counterparts to identify alternative macro-economic policy options to enhance the policy impact of UNDP projects and programmes. The Economic Analyst maintain a network with colleagues from UNDP, UN Agencies, IFIs, Government officials, multilateral donors and civil society<\/p>\n

Advise and support UNDP management economic and development issues
\nAdvise and facilitate knowledge building on economic development issues
\nCreate strategic partnerships and support to resource mobilisation
\nAdvocate and promote UNDP’s mandate and mission
\nProvide relevant information, reports, tools and other references to facilitate technical preparation and implementation of National, District HDRs, MDGR, Development Plans as well as other papers required to promote human development
\nRemuneration: Competitive and in accordance with UN Guidelines<\/p>\n

Required Skills or Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n

Demonstrates integrity by modeling the UN’s values and ethical standards; Promotes the vision, mission, and strategic goals of UNDP; Displays Cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability and treats all people fairly without favoritism
\nShare knowledge and experience and contributes to UNDP Practice Areas and works actively towards continuing personal learning and development. Ability to provide top quality policy advisory services on economic issues and in-depth practical knowledge of inter-disciplinary development issues
\nGood knowledge of economics and current development issues particularly those pertinent to UNDP’s Practice Areas
\nAbility to apply economic theory to the specific country context and carry out high quality economic research
\nStrong IT skills and ability to lead implementation of new systems (business side), and affect staff behavioral\/attitudinal change
\nFocuses on impact and result for the client and responds positively to feedback and consistently approaches work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude
\nDemonstrates strong oral and written communication skills, remains calm, in control and good humored even under pressure and demonstrates openness to change and ability to manage complexities
\nMaster’s Degree in Economic with at least 2 years of relevant experience at the national or international level
\nExperience in research and policy-level analysis, design, monitoring and evaluation of development projects
\nExperience in the use of computers and economic software packages and handling of web based management systems and advanced programmes for statistical analysis of data<\/p>\n
