GROW helps women increase availability, access and utilization of a variety of appropriate and nutritious food through strengthening production and market linkages, increasing diversification in production, and creating nutrition awareness. The project works in eight districts of the Upper West Region and is at the mid-way point in a six-year lifespan.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Field Area Manager<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Project Summary \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Field Area Manager will lead the technical team to facilitate improved food security for women farmers and their families by sustainably linking them to markets for increased agricultural production and by facilitating increased understanding of nutrition. \u00a0The Field Area Manager is responsible to oversee effective management of program activities and MEDA\u2019s Field Office in the Upper West Region for the GAC-funded Greater Rural Opportunities for Women (GROW). \u00a0 This will include representing MEDA with both government and Key Facilitating Partners (KFPs) in the Upper West Region.<\/p>\n<p>The Field Area Manager will also oversee the project\u2019s administration, security and driving staff. \u00a0The administrative functions include: procurement and maintenance of assets, equipment and supplies; safety and security systems for both staff and assets; administrative support to the project team.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the senior management team, the Field Area Manager will collaborate closely with other areas of the project\u2019s management and contribute to its overall success. \u00a0This position will be based in Wa and may have frequent travels to Tamale for meetings. \u00a0He\/She will report directly to the Country Project Manager and work closely with Finance Manager and Admin\/HR Manager<\/p>\n<p><strong>Duties<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Manage GROW program staff in the region.<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate with appropriate government agencies in the region.<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate with KFP\u2019s GROW Project Coordinator on field activities.<\/li>\n<li>Implement MEDA\u2019s HR policies in compliance with local Ghana legislation.<\/li>\n<li>Implement MEDA\u2019s finance policies.<\/li>\n<li>Supervise program staff based in the region and monitor their work performance, as well as vacation time off to be reported to Admin\/HR Manager.<\/li>\n<li>Provide support to program staff when needed.<\/li>\n<li>Develop and manage the recruitment and selection process of support staff in the region if needed including: defining job descriptions, advertising and job postings, interviews, and reference checks<\/li>\n<li>Organize and facilitate the on boarding process for new staff.<\/li>\n<li>Design, implement and monitor a Performance Management Process with Country Project Manager. Train staff to ensure the process is followed and provide support when necessary.<\/li>\n<li>Support the safety and security functions in the Field Office including: implementing a Field Security Manual with support from Country Project Manager and MEDA HQ; monitoring staff travel; managing MEDA\u2019s vehicle; and providing logistical and security support to international visitors.<\/li>\n<li>Monitor team morale and assist the Country Project Manager to address issues promptly<\/li>\n<li>Participate in the project\u2019s senior management team. Prepare appropriate project reports and statistics to the Country Project Manager, and participate in annual planning as required.<\/li>\n<li>Purchase and maintain all project assets, equipment and supplies in compliance with MEDA policy, CIDA guidelines and Ghana laws.<\/li>\n<li>Directly supervise the work of the Administrative Assistant and other support staff in the field office.<\/li>\n<li>Oversee the selection and supervision of project drivers and security personnel.<\/li>\n<li>Carry out other duties as assigned by the Country Project Manager<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required Skills or Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Master\u2019s degree in relevant field \u2013 agriculture, business, finance, administration, human resources and other related courses<\/li>\n<li>At least 5 years\u2019 experience in project management of a complex internationally funded project. \u00a0Experience working on a women-focused project is an asset.<\/li>\n<li>At least with 5 years\u2019 supervisory experience. \u00a0Managing 5-10 staff is an asset.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated successful experience with supervision, recruitment and selection.<\/li>\n<li>Experience with human resources and procurement management in compliance with requirements of major donors.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated effective leadership, interpersonal and communications skills.<\/li>\n<li>Experience dealing with issues of a confidential and sensitive nature.<\/li>\n<li>Fluency in English is required, also of other Ghanaian dialects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Appreciation and support of MEDA\u2019s faith, values and goals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applicants should apply with their CV and Cover Letter, to <strong>grow@meda.org<\/strong> by <strong>23th November, 2016<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Qualified Ghana nationals are strongly encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MEDA\u2019s project, Greater Rural Opportunities (GROW), seeks to improve food security for 20,000 families in northern Ghana.
